Edit: Under load it maxed at 1.238 volts this time, but most of the time it stays around 1.08 or thereabouts. The same was the case with the previous bios as well.
This is very strange... Try to overclock with afterburner or just use Sapphire Trixxx. See what is the voltage shown on some of the 2 programs. If it is lower than what is shown in GPU-Z may be Gpu-Z doesn't work properly for you.

trixx has it set to 1.25V.

The Artic Etreme 7970 cooler is huge in size but keeps the temps really down. Max. 54C.

Perfect! I am hoping for 1200 core with temps in the high 60's low 70's. This should do. Of course I will try to push the card harder in Heaven and see what she can do. Thanks for the info.

1200core should not be a problem. Just raise the V-core a bit. My PSU does not cope then. I am waiting for a Seasonic G550W. The one I have now quits when starting Furmark. Its only 432W on the 12v line.

They do because a few people have the game ready to download in steam for when the game comes out.

My 7950s finally arrived.

The good:
-They are dead silent and cool
-Clocked at 1000/1250 they are plenty fast (the shop assured me they were the 900Mhz models, fcukers)
-Crysis 3 runs with crossfire at vsynced 60fps with very high settings. Microstutter is non existent.
-So far the single 7950 seems to be around 50% faster than my 570 which was a primary goal.

The Bad:
-Both Bioses seem to be the same. They operate at 1000/1250 with 1.15V
-I cannot overvolt it. It only goes up to 1100Mhz and it is not stable for everything there.

The Ugly:
-I flashed the F43 Bios and the system would not boot.

I know how to put the stock BIOS back on that switch position but the real question is what BIOS do I use for Overvoltage and how can I know if my cards are voltage locked anyway? Is there a BIOS compatible with my cards but with higher voltage?

BIOS pic

Thanks

Congrats man! 7950 Crossfire, now that's no joke. Kinda blows that you cannot adjust the voltage... Maybe Belkov can help you with that? Runs some Valley benches please - single and cross fired, with your current max overclocks.

Thanks

Well, this GB bios version is completely unknown for me - it's something new i think...
F2 and F3 - 015.01X.XXX.XXX.XXXXXX
F43/FZ1 and even F21 - 015.02X.XXX.XXX.XXXXXX
This one is BIOS Version 015.03X.XXX.XXX.XXXXXX

You can check this thread from overclock.net:
"New Bios update for gigabyte HD7950 !"

In this thread there are people who claim that you can reflash with every GB 7950 bios, but i'm not so sure it's very healthy. FZ1 bios gives you 1.25V. under load. I think you can find it attached in the thread. Also F3 gives more voltage and this one i attached in the thread...

Also how you reflash your bios - under dos or under windows? You can repair your corrupted bios - the only thing you need to do is to start reflashing under dos with the healthy bios and just before starting the process you must change with the corrupted one.

Usualy and i told this before - GB GHz bioses are voltage locked. F43 is not voltage locked for me and if your cards are not hardware voltage locked it must works for you too.

Here's single card at 1100/1500

And here's the CFX at same clocks.

Not bad I guess but I'd still like another 10fps, just to make GTX 680 SLI users blush in shame!

Yeah I saw your earlier posts about the BIOS versions. Didn't like the fact that I have 015.03! It had to be me, lol.

So far tried the F2, F42 and F43. Non of them works. The system bricks.

Luckily I know my way around Atiflash and Rhezzus' posts earlier refreshed my memory, so I just flash the original bios back, after using switch position no2 and then going back to no1 before flashing the original back to no1.

I use the latest atiflash version and I do the flashing in Dos mode.

I think it recognized my BIOS revision as FW1.

Now let me try the FZ1 and let's hope it works, otherwise I'm stuck, until further notice!

Thanks man.

Well it is very strange that GB release so many new GHz bioses without mentioning about them. Yours is FW1 and there was a FX1. By the way what are the asics qualities of your cards - i'm just making statistics...

Very nice man!! To be only 10FPS away $900+ video cards for only $600. I say you are doing pretty good
