There are 2 new bioses for GB 7950 WF3 users... Some new GHz versions... May be they will help to hardware voltage locked 7950's owners...

GB BIOSES - FX1 & FY1
I will try this FX1 bios - it seems it is made exactly for F42/F43 bios versions...

EDIT: I couldn't reflash - my bios died...
Just returned to F43...
@psolord, try this FX1 bios - it would work for your card(with stock FX0 bios version).

My cards are the FW0s. It seems I'm the only one with FW0 WF3. They could very well be the GTF0s as far as overvoltage is concerned, lol.

Heck I will give it a try anyway.

Mucho gracias!

both fy1 and fx1 are for revision 2 cards and yours, i believe is 2nd rev., so i think they may work for you. And you have 2 bioses so - yes, you can try.

Please tell me when you try this FX1 bios whether the HDMI don't work with it, because may be this is the problem... I have only HDMI for my monitor because my TV gets the only DVI port i have...

By the way what is the signature of your FW0 bios? Because if it is 015.031.000.000, FY1 is just for you...
I decided to try F3 bios and i was able to achieve 1150/1700MHz only using CCC Overdrive. However this bios increase the temps with more than 10 degrees and i think it is not worthy... May be if the games become more demanding... i will try it again...

Do you guys play BF3 maxed out or on ultra with these cards? I can play ultra @ 1080p with vsync and occationally drop down to 54 fps sometimes, but most of the time 60 constant, but I use the auto settings, because it feels smoother and actually IMO looks better. My auto settings are a mixture of high and ulta settings. Textures and the like are set at ultra. No msaa, but instead 8x fxaa.

Yea mine is like that too. I also just played with the ultra settings. Mine only dipped in crazy situations anyways and it wasn't even a big deal.

A guy at overclockers tried it already and told me they don't work on FW0 cards. So I will just save myself the trouble....!

My cards are 015.030.xxxxx

How do you overclock ? I have msi afterburner; and I set the clock speed to 1150 and memory speed to 1500 but the benchmark runs at around the same speed (I'm using tomb raider benchmark) . Do I need to 'enable' these settings ?
-
Specifically using tomb raider benchmark i see the avg frame rate goes from approx 46 to 48 which is well under the 10% of raising the clock from 925 to 1150.
(the temp never went above 62C but the fan did got from 40 to 49)

Also is there a specific memory value that should track the clock speed ?

Last but least is this thing like a cpu that will shutdown if it gets too hot (and what is considered too hot) ?

Well you have to click "apply" after you set your settings. 1150 Mhz for the core could probably require some additional voltage, but don't go there yet.

If you do things right, after your benchmark run, the OC values should be correctly monitored in MSI AB, so you should see 1150 on the graph for the core. You can also use gpuz's sensors.

All recent GPUs throttle if they overheat. There's also some driver added security where the driver will just drop the clocks to default if the card gets too stressed.

Still some sense on the user's part is required.

Ok I responded to this in the thread I created yesterday:
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2310045

Seem silly to run two conversations on the same topic.

Both bioses work - they just break HDMI. May be that's why the guy thought they didn't work. If your monitor is connected with DVI, you can try FY1.

Replaced a 5850 with a 7950. Noticed a significant improvement in framerates in every game, but something about 3DMark11 is very wrong:

6155 - http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6123872

The CPU is actually 40x100 but 3DM reads the idle speed. Otherwise, it's accurate. I'm seeing scores with similar systems well into the 8k and 9k ranges. AA/AF is set to application control in the driver settings, so I don't know what else could cause this. Any thoughts?

OK I reinstalled Win7 x64 the other day and my score is now around 6480 - still WAY below what I've seen from a setup like this. Someone please help!

Dear God and baby Jesus.. that Graphics score...

Did you try re-installing 3Dmark11? Updated Drivers? Are you running any programs in the background? I will say 3Dmark11 is jumpy. Sometimes I run and my scores are much lower that other times. Do you have GPU-Z or any other graphic based programs running in the background? I notice sometimes with consecutive runs my scores can drop and I need to restart my PC.

Your Physics score look good for I am guessing a moderate overclock on the 2500K.

It tried both FY1 and FX1 and they don't work.

They flashed normally but the system does not post.

This was a fresh install of Windows and everything else, including 13.1 Beta 3 drivers whereas before I was using 13.1 official. I've run several tests and scores are pretty consistent. Beside Steam and GPU-Z (which I've tried on and off with no difference), Microsoft Security Essentials is the only program I have running in the background. It's certainly not running any active scans so I don't see how it would cause this.

I assume the card performs well in games? What is your Valley score on HD Extreme?
