Never has it been so common to see ~50% OCs, that's absolutely nuts and actually shows how low a target AMD set for these cards.

I think part of the reason they went with such low clocks is to keep power use in check...although for enthusiasts that buy these cards, it probably doesn't mean a whole lot. However, with increased power use, cooling requirements also go up...maybe AMD couldn't release a high clocked card that would stay relatively cool.

I know that some ppl on newegg have seen GPUz report the full shader count on the 7950 twin frozr, just wondering if anyone could confirm if they are active or not.

Yeah, I saw bababooey post on another forum that he had 7970 shaders but turned out it was a gpuz bug.

Also, ncix=rat bastards.

No way. My paypal is verified, 40 purchases on ebay, several trades here and countless transactions elsewhere with paypal. Granted, I did move 3 months ago but all the bank info was instantly updated and all transactions since reflect that. I tried to buy again using a different payment method, if they reject that again, I will never ever try to buy anything from them again.

You might check with Paypal as to why your address is unconfirmed. It sounds like an issue with them rather than NCIX.

With using a credit card, they will charge "foreign fees" (USA/Canada thing, there is a bullet in about it on the order page) hence wanting to use paypal. I called Paypal after calling NCIX and they tell me account is still verified and in perfect order whcih makes sense because my Catleap order wouldn't have gone through otherwise. I called NCIX and I repeated the order with the rep walking me through.

Also, ncix=rat bastards. They list the item "in stock" yet it's not, have to wait 5 business days before they can actually ship because they have to grab it from a supplier.

Once the transaction is fully processed and the card is actually shipped to me, I fully expect that due to the ongoing heatwave, the card will expand itself just enough to become too long to fit in my case.

That doesn't make any sense. I've ordered with a US credit card to a US address and with a CDN credit card to a CDN address before and was never charged any additional credit card F/X transaction fees. You just have to use www.ncixus.com for US orders and www.ncix.com for CDN orders. No fees are charged for US customers ordering from their US website.

How can I pay for my order?

NCIX does NOT charge any credit card or payment surcharges. We gladly accept the following payment methods:

Visa
Mastercard
PayPal

What taxes do I pay?

For US bound orders, no additional taxes or duties will be charged.

Will there be any extra (import/brokerage/duty) fees?

Absolutely not! This is why we have opened a new warehouse in California - so we can offer you cheaper and faster shipping with no added fees. As per law, taxes will be charged at the applicable rate for each state. California residents are required to pay a 7.25% sales tax (8.75% for residents within LA County)

NCIX did the same crap to me when I tried paying with Paypal. They wouldn't take it, even though it's a 5 year old, established and verified account.

Newegg/Amazon for me.

Guys, before whining, learn the difference between paypal verified account and paypal confirmed address. The folks at NCIX did what ANY seller accepting paypal would have done: No confirmed address, no shipping.

Totally, except my paypal is verified and address has been confirmed and double checked by a NCIX rep over the phone. Though next time I whine, I'll make sure to make such a glaring mistake so that other can point to it and be right about it.

I think it's safe to conclude that 3 free games coupons=6+6pin, no free games=6+8pin. Not a deal breaker by any means. And this delay by ncix ensures my streak of never having any MIR validated on any item I ever purchased lives on.

Please get back on the topic, this is not a topic about paypal policies. Also, refrain from personal insults and flaming.

was having some weird issues with VRM temps last night. took the cooler all the way apart and reseated the shim for the ram, applied AS5 on the core. everything seems to be a lot more in line with other temps. i did notice there's one screw for the shim that's stuck in the receiving bolt that won't turn. you can still take the shim off... so it's not really a problem.

but yeah... i think some ram sinks could go a long way on these cards. if you can fit them under the cooler that is.

oh also... forgot to mention that i'm running stable at 1100. i've been able to hit 1150. but even at 1.2v i can't get 1175 stable even. using afterburner 2.2.1 and cat 12.6

My 1st card was DOA. The second is running great at 1100 on default voltage. Very nice card.

1100-1150mhz is good without putting 1.25-1.3V into the card. At 1100mhz, you past GTX680 on a 7950. That's $190+ savings gents. Think of it as putting $190 you didn't have to spend towards your next upgrade.
