Radeon II won't be out until Q4... I guess that means Radeon II will have to compete with GF3 ULTRA? or possibly 4..

ehhh. speed is irrelavant above gts. ur eyes can only see 30fps. anything above is blind numbers.IMO.. 2cents. why waste your money on something you cant see? if you saw a gts and a gf4, would you see and feel any difference? probably not. but im thread crapping i think.

i think the radeon 2 is designed to compete with the ultra, but do you mean gf4 when you said, "possbible 4.."?

Actually, there is a difference if u do go up aboe 30fps. I forget the technical page on it, maybe someone will provide the link. But also, the higher the FPS your video card supports now, the better the support will be in the future. Granted there is a price difference, but the GF3 and P4 could potentially be good investments for the future...even though I hate Intel, and NVidia's newly founded monopoly. GO ATI/AMD!

Most people measure average...you need well above 60 to keep your minimum above 30.

The human eye can see more than 30fps. I am not sure what the true number is, but it is much higher. The reason television and films can get away with 29 is because they have motion blur. Watch the scene with Darth Maul spinning his dual light saber in slow motion. It actually begins to form a spiral. Computer games have none of this blurring effect, thus making perceivable framerate higher. BTW, I am in now way advocating getting a GeForce3, I'm happy with my Radeon AIW

Well.. I play Quake 2 MM/TMG Railwarz at like 130FPS.. when I bumped it to 32bit color, it went to around 70fps. I could actually see the difference.

Most folks can see about 85 FPS, so you might need 200FPS average to never dip below 85FPS.

heh 200 fps might be a bit overkill, but from personal experience- dipping below 60 fps in any fast paced shooter like Q2/Q3 is definitely noticeable. Nothing that really throws me off, but to be absolutly fluid, personally I need at least approx 60fps.
