radeon le sdr pci very slow dont bother

since i have no agp port but have an 800 processer i got the radeon sdr pci and it is slow as hell, the intel 3d chip is as fast..... i got 40fps at 800x600 32 bit that is crapp. overclocking is crap i went over 180 and problems, and hacking the hyper z forgetabout it new drivers so its different and could not hack....so 3 bad thing going for it:
1) pci buss kills performance
2) no hyper z so slow too
3) sdr radm so overclocking wont work

i am gona return it and get a voodoo5 pci !!!!!!!!!

Wha? Sorry to hear that but are you sure about the lack of HyperZ? I just don't see how the drivers would be any different and the core is the same as all the other models except for the VE, no?

Sorry you had to take one for the team. If you find a decent dealer with Voodoo3s or V4's left(V5 is too expensive), I'd like to know. I'm from Buffalo myself, so if you can find them in Toronto I'll be INTERESTED.

I don't doubt the PCI SDR is slow. From what I know, this is not an LE card and does have HyperZ enabled without doing any reg hack at all. Did you try it out without messing around in the registry first?

I suspect that it's a VE not and LE. The VE is aimed at the business market - it has dual monitor support, only has a 64 bit memory bus and no Hardware TnL. Hence their performance is pants in games.

I've only heard of LE Radeons as AGP cards, with 128 bit memory. I think they all have DDR RAM as well.

If it has ATI written on the card then it's definitely NOT a LE as the LE are actually made by a different company who have licensed the chips.

first off the radeon sucks big time in pci ( I am sure its good in agp)...
the overclocking of the sdr suck i could not mive up even to 170 too many problems.... in terms of quake check out these numers keep in mind i have a pIII-800 and used demo001 at 800X600 high res 32bit colour i could only get around 45fps.... i tried to tweek it with a few products but nothing worked the T&L was not on i turned it on and no effect could not overclock so i was stuck with the 45fps whcih suck considering the cards is 200 canadain. on the bright side the new dirvers provided by ati where good thay had fsaa now in 2x plus 4s so u guys with ddr agp le radeon go upgrade... but i think i am not sure but i think the new drivers make it harded to enable hyperz and overclocking i think u guys cant try it.... so today i got a voodoo5 pci wicked card i mean amazing to all you guys with 810 mb go get the voodoo5 pci now i mean for real it is the best card hands don for pci mb... now i get 78fps in 800x600 32colour and high detales this still seeems slow but i have not tweek or overclocked the voodoo5 as of yet (btw how do i overclock the card and which are the newest drivers and hsr how dose it work and what do i need to get it to work) again you guys can take my word or tryit your selfs but trust me dont expect any good to come out of it.... also i foun that the radeon was good with easports games i was able to do at the highest ress allowe full detales and fsaa2x and it ran good, thn again i can do the saem at 4x with the voodoo... again i am not an expert or enything but from what i saw stay away from radeon....


P.S: befor i get flamed by radeon lovers note i am talking abotu the radeonLE sdr PCI <<<------ PCI PCI not AGP i am sure the AGP is amazing but pci sucks and i hope ati sees this and fixes it for the people who have the pci card..... finally wait for reviews on the card(if thay ever come out) befor making your mind up but keep in mind that the pci voodoo5 are now hard to find and i mean hard..

and that guy who wanted a card form canada go to futureshop and get them to price match the prices on www.canadacomputers.com that sould bring the price to 189 + taxs wich is cheaper the the radeon le sdr pciu which was 199... its your call but hurry its very hard to ge the voodoo pci you may want to call a few stores befor coming up to canada,,,,..



finally, i have always upgaraded my 3dcards with 3dfx i remember the monster3d and now the voodoo5 i have nothing but good words for 3dfx may they rest in peace,.,,,.,.,

the card on the back had the radeon logo with at in the middel made in canada and the chip had a fan with radeon on it..... its by ati you can see it on the ati.com site.... in terms of tweeking the radeon it was hard and i dont think it worked i may be wrong or did it wrong but no performance ganes at alll..... you dont have to beleve me just wait for a revies since i may have not tweek it correctly...

Nobody is going to flame you. You were the first to try it out, and it looks to be a dud. Not too suprised. You did cause some confusion by calling the card a &quot;radeon le sdr pci&quot;. Its not an LE card. Its a Radeon SDR PCI. LE cards are AGP and have DDR ram.

Actually, the SDR performs surprisingly well here, though I think that's the AGP version (??? or do they only have a PCI one?).

What game were you referring to, the 800x600x32? Have you tried a higher resolution? But yeah, the PCI bus is pretty limiting.

Futureshop? Thnx I'll be calling around anyway to see if they have any closer to home in Burlington or the Falls. I don't think ANY are left in Buffalo or on Mwave or Directron Any chance they had V3's? I'm not sure a V5 will even fit in this little HP minitower, plus my F16sim is probably Glide.

Never seen or heard of a Radeon PCI card unless it was a special built upgrade item available for Macs from Apple. The Radeon chip itself does not support PCI so an external PCI-AGP chip must be used...which is why I'm wondering about the origin of your card.

futershop had alot of voodoo 3 i saw them in all stores and thay were less then 200 around 150 i think you can check futureshop.com

usaully all the reviews of the sdr ar agp... and i was refering to quake3 800x600 32 high detales and got crappy fps around 45 this is on a p3-800.... now with my voodoo5 pci i get 79 at 1240x768....... with fsaa 2x i get 73 same setting,,,,.,
