Radeon or Geforce2 GTS, Which one got better 2D performance?

I have to ask cuz I thought since Asus is using higher quality components, would its 2D performance outstand other geforce2 cards. I KNEW radeon has an edge over geforce2, but I am just not sure how much.

I believe Elsa has above average 2d quality in terms of Geforces, but the 2d quality of the Radeon is excellent, even at high resolutions. There are some known issues with the Radeon and Trinitron monitors, which ATi have apparently identified and are working on. Check out the Rage3d forums for more information.

i've had several v7700s, i tested a couple OEM ones from HP and they are not good. I dont know about the deluxe but assume its the same

the GTS is ON PAR with G400 with 2D, even exceeding it in some test i remeber

Both having 350MHz RAMDAC, I dont really see the GTS having better 2D performance besides the clock speed and RAM speed.

in terms of SPEED-wise, it is not JUST the RAMDAC that counts

GTS is slightly faster than the G400Max in both test using P3/600
G400Max is then faster with Athlon 850

I know that, I said the clock/ram speed also has something to do with it. Matrox can have only a 10MHz advantage over nVidia in RAMDAC, but in real world the Matrox kills it.

The vanilla G400 is like 150/183, the MAX is 183/200, considering the RAM is not DDR.

A lot of people were wondering about which videocard they should chose for their heavy 2D-work. That is why we intentionally published the Athlon 850 and PIII-600 results in the same graph. If you are a 2D-artist or professional, get a cheaper videocard (like the TNT2 M64) but don't skimp on powerfull CPU. While some videocards still have a slower 2D-engine than others, it is crystal clear that the CPU determines the performance that you will experience. A cheap TNT2M64 paired with an Athlon 850 does a much better 2d-job than any of its expensive brothers (Geforce DDR, Geforce GTS2) with the PIII-600.

many people think they need a killer card to do 2D graphics work like CAD and DTP
however, in reality a more powerful CPU is better

but turns out all card can do it just as good (even the M64)
but the S3 cards sux in this sense
