Now 290X doesn't look like a power hog some tried to make it look like. 1,5kWatt is about enough for 1 room in winter, you will save some on heating

For a comparison, 1,5 kW is average power of lawnmower

So according to Vapor-X, the representant from Sapphire on some forums, just changing the Thermal paste on their GPU voids the Warranty.

How is that stupid?

People who wants to put a nice waterblock on their sapphire cards are stopped by this stupid Policy. How can a big company like Sapphire do this crap to the enthousiasts community like us.

I'm really shocked by this.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1444881/sapphire-after-market-coolers-and-warranty

The question is, if a user buys a Sapphire card and then replaces the cooler that came with the card is the warranty still in effect? The simple answer to this is no, any modification of the card voids the warranty.

Now a lot of people have been asking why, I think the majority understand but I felt a clarification was in order for those that do not.

I'll be curious to see where that thread ends up. The Sapphire rep is in a world of poo there. It depends on where you live but there are laws to protect consumers from policies like that.

That's the correct answer to a simple question, otherwise everyone and his wife would apply their own 'cooling solutions' to every Sapphire card ever built. I'm sure if the question was more succinctly phrased the answer would be more appealing. The very wide scope of the question demands the narrow negative answer.

Did people really actually believe that it is standard to warrant major modifications? Why do they want to pay for people who don't know what they are doing changing the cooling, when they have charts and data to show the life expectancy with the original setup?

You overvolt or mess with the cooler, except for a few select AIBs...you don't have a warranty. I am sure you will find that Sapphire is not alone if you read the fine print at most AIB warranties.

MSI and Gigabyte will honour your warranty of the there was no damanged cause from switching the cooler or replacing the TIM as long as you send it back to the with the stock cooler back on.

Now obviously if they see a VRM or RAM chip ripped off, then you are SOL and rightly so. I belive XFX are the same. Not sure about Asus, but it seems like Sapphire are in the minority from what it looks like.

SCORE
17019
with AMD Radeon R9 290X(4x) and Intel Core i7-3930K Processor

http://www.3dmark.com/fs/1191468

3930k @ 5ghz
Corsair Dominator GT @ 2400mhz
Quad 290x @ easy 1200mhz/1550mhz

( I still have more room in the GPUs, I can all run them at 1260mhz / 1650mhz )

Hmm... K|NGP|N's #1 spot has a 27.5% higher GPU score than you with a 3930K is OCed to 5.7 GHz and 1700/1950MHz GPU clocks on LN, this equates to a 14% higher CPU overclock, 41.67% higher core frequency, and 25.8% higher memory frequency... Oddly, he is only running 2 dimms :whiste:

Compartively, his run at 5.7 GHz 3930K with quad Titans at 1408/1799MHz GPU clocks on LN only had a GPU score of 24966 which is 11% higher than your modest OC on water

Based on those figures, it does appear that the 290X quadfire does perform better Titans. Curious to find out how the 780 Ti compares.

I am impatiently waiting for 3dmark to update their Hall of Fame to see all those 290x under LN2 and to see my score of course.

I am waiting for them to update before doing more benchies.

I'm playing a lot of BF4 . :$

Futuremark finally updated their Hall Of Fame and my modest overclock did spot #9

http://www.3dmark.com/fs/1191468

This run was done with 1200/1550 and I think I can raise that to 1275/1650mhz on the four cards. I will wait for more WHQL drivers before doing more benches.

Awesome setup, truly insane and Bf4 looks great on triple monitor.

If you ever come to Quebec city with The Beast, let me know, I would love to see it in real!!!

Thanks for the comments guys.

-----------

I did some light benching today for a friend. I did a Heaven run at 1440p and one at 1080p

1440p : CPU @ 4.6 Ghz and Mem @ 2133 Mhz / GPU at 1101/1450
1080p: CPU @ 4.6 Ghz and Mem @ 2133 Mhz / GPU at 1140/1450

Why do you need two different clock speeds for those benchmark runs?

Because someone asked me to run the bench.

I used my 24/7 OC CPU at 4.6 ghz to try it on stock BIOS and MSI afterburner.

I did two runs just for fun and I think I put different clocks by mistake. I need to reflash to PT1 BIOS soon and use my other power supply to bench. When I bench I put my CPU at 5ghz and mem at 2400mhz.
