what the hell does the op do for a living, to afford all this?

Its not the expense per se.. its the fact the partner (usually wife!) or significant other will not let you spend some $$ for such a setup. It's considered a "waste of $$" by most people.
Phucking hell.. that truly is a modern man-cave!! If only my missus was so understanding...
I've had a single 290X pull about 400w with some voltage
But what will this all mean when Mantle arrives?
This PC could very well be #1 in terms of heat dissipation from a single gaming desktop. No need to turn on the heater at all this winter. All you need to do is cycle the air through the house that's coming off of this beast.

...And there lies the difference.haha glad I wear the pants in my relationship.
Mine only has the girlfriend title tho not wife.
Indeed it was hard for me to get my i5-4570k after I had such nice things to say about my i5-2500k, also nearly impossible to get my second 7950, it had to arrive first before I could even discuss it ^_^
Edit: We've never even really discussed the second 7950. A few times she asked, I thought you only bought one, and is another time she asked why I had two...
It's a conversation we both know the answer to but will never openly discuss :|

Mine only has the girlfriend title tho not wife, and while she is at my house alot I live alone.
But even with the title I'm better with money than she is, so there won't be any restrictions when I want to buy hardware.
What I don't understand is how he keeps his desk so clean? The quad rig is nice too of course... hehe.
Well, when you take pride in what you do...those type of things take care of themselves. You usually don't find one without the other.

even bicyclesThat rig is still cheaper to build than some rifles... lots of hobbies can be much more expensive than computers - guns, cars, boats...
My desk is a disaster.
