what the hell does the op do for a living, to afford all this?

Its not the expense per se.. its the fact the partner (usually wife!) or significant other will not let you spend some $$ for such a setup. It's considered a "waste of $$" by most people.

Indeed it was hard for me to get my i5-4570k after I had such nice things to say about my i5-2500k, also nearly impossible to get my second 7950, it had to arrive first before I could even discuss it ^_^

Edit: We've never even really discussed the second 7950. A few times she asked, I thought you only bought one, and is another time she asked why I had two...

It's a conversation we both know the answer to but will never openly discuss :|

But what will this all mean when Mantle arrives?

Johan specifically said that when using the Mantle render path, the implementation of multi-gpu is completely done by the game developer.

So either vaporware or ok implementation to better than Crossfire to better than SLI to maybe better than AFR?

I'm banking on they didn't get paid enough to implement multi-gpu Mantle.

This PC could very well be #1 in terms of heat dissipation from a single gaming desktop. No need to turn on the heater at all this winter. All you need to do is cycle the air through the house that's coming off of this beast.

haha glad I wear the pants in my relationship.

Mine only has the girlfriend title tho not wife, and while she is at my house alot I live alone.

But even with the title I'm better with money than she is, so there won't be any restrictions when I want to buy hardware.

...And there lies the difference.

Put a ring on that finger.
Just see what happens.

Do you know what the difference between a new job and a new bride? After 3 months, the job will still suck.

To the OP, nice setup man.

Better call the police and tell them what's up so they don't think you are crafting nuclear materials when you hit the power button

You should have seen the look on the wife's face (now an exwife  ) when the rather large box with my Logitech Z5500's arrived. Not nearly as easy to hide as a new CPU.

Thats because you have a GF and not a WIFE.

Trust me, they change. Especially once you have a few kids... suddenly, priorities in life is completely different, because SHE says so!

You think the R290/X is LOUD???

Well, when you take pride in what you do...those type of things take care of themselves. You usually don't find one without the other.

That rig is still cheaper to build than some rifles... lots of hobbies can be much more expensive than computers - guns, cars, boats...

Approx. what's the width/length of your desk if you don't mind me asking? Building a similar setup and trying to decide on table space.

I know what you guys are saying but she already knows where I stand

I will still keep a budget for this hobby there are way bigger expenses in my life already i'm not too worried. I don't consider my rigs excessive in terms of cost and how long systems last these days the major upgrades aren't as frequent as they use to be which is alot easier on the pocket book.

As for kids were still not sure on that already talked about it!

And yes things change as you grow older and life moves on but trust me I will still be doing what I love.

With PCIe Power cables

Looking good more pics!!!
