My monitor is the Auria EQ276W from Microcenter. Both my 290s are Gigabyte reference cards. As for my HDMI cable, it's one of these, my job bulk buys them for it's customers. It's labeled "All Systems Broadband" and is marked high speed. That's really all it shows.
I don't see anything special about this cable, but it works fine for me. I had been using DP on my 7970 Lightnings, but then switched to HDMI because I kept getting that bs monitor sleep bug. I haven't switched back to DP with my 290s because all I have is a DP to mini DP cable and the 290 DP connector is full size, plus with HDMI working, I have no need to switch.
Are you sure you are not at 2560x1440@30hz. Because the R9 290(x) have HDMi 1.4, its not HDMI 2.0.
Not to sound like a noob, I'd like to think I'm not, but how can I absolutely verify? Everything that I check shows 60Hz.
Hello Karl,
I just received an email from the guys in Customer Service which have been working on the issue with Engineering.
They have identified the issue and are working on a solution which will be included in an upcoming driver release. To be perfectly honest with you we don’t know when this new driver will be released yet; but I will definitely let you know as soon as I find out.
Best,
Sam T.

Thank you very much, I hope it will take a month or less for a fix.:awe:
I am following along as well. I have not had the flickering issue like you have unless I have something open in the background. I am more annoyed now at the wake on sleep bug, but I guess I just need to disable sleep state or set the timer really long. Just frustrating in the morning to have to power cycle to check e-mail.

Yeah it sucks, I always had this problem with AMD, it happenned with my 3 x 6970, and my 4 x 7970.
I decided to remove sleep from my system.
This might sound crazy after all the $$$ you have spent but I'll throw it out.
Sell all 4 290X's while the mining craze is high and recoup your $$ and buy 4 Titan blacks to run in SLI:whiste:
I'm losing faith.
Cards bought on last week of October 2013. It's now March 2014. I've been owning those cards for 4 months. And I've been disabling two cards and play on single monitor instead of 4 cards and triple monitors.
I'd be curious if you guys (Slomo4sho and Karlitos) can maesure power draw with a single card being watercooled at stock settings. That could answer the question of whether power draw drops (A little, dramatically,or even if it drops at all) with better cooling.I suspect you'll see quite lower power figures than those on air with the reference cooler.
