Sup lads!
Karlitos try a different bios for the cards.
I had a dp loss like twice a week but when I switched to a tri-x it stablized for a long period.
It's pretty strange... both you and kaapstand had this issue and I didn't... maybe my cards were a latter patch?

Hey King, the DP getting out of sync with the Display Link Failure message is not my problem. Actually this issue is easily solvable by just unplugging the DP monitor and replugging it. I didn't have that issue with the 290x or if I had it was just a few times.

I also tried many different BIOSes to solve my issue. I even tried the pt1 and pt3 BIOS .

This is the issue I have http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2366378

Kaapstad and I had another issue but it was related to PCIe 3.0 Lanes, we both swap from 3930k (3970x in his case) to a 4930k and it fied our issue.

I pm'd King4x4 on ocn for some advise. He's been happy with his quad 290Xs and triple 1440s.

Hi Wermad, thanks for helping, you always been a wonderful dude . I'm starting to miss OCN a lot. Maybe I will be unbanned by July... this is if they decide to unban me.

A little update not so an update.

I tried same monitors with same Display Port Active Adapters with a MSI GTX 780 Twin Frozr.

No issue at all so it's not the monitors or the adapters... it's the driver. :'(

A co-worker at my job asked me to build him a good rig to play games so i5 4670k + GTX 780

Welcome to the green side where you generally don't wait months/years for fixes to acknowledged bugs, years as was the case with eyefinity (where DX9 is still bugged with CF / EF framepacing). That's pretty much how I felt when using eyefinity. Frustrating to use my PC. After a while it gets old. As you experienced.

In any case, glad you got a working setup. Do you plan to go quad yet again? Or just testing the waters? Edit: Ah, friends build. NVM!

Please refrain from doing such a comment in a neutral environment.

Both companies have their strenght and weakness. I will never be a fanboy.... NEVER

Edit: Ah, friends build. NVM!

I decided of the parts because the guy doesn't know crap and wants to play at 1080p.

Sorry, Karlitos, my intention wasn't that. That was merely my experience with AMD in the past with 7970s and eyefinity. Problems that took forever to fix (actually not completely fixed yet and have been issues since launch). Switching to avoid such problems isn't a fanboy thing to me, to me it's common sense. If you get sub-par service consistently you look for an alternative. If something is broken for months or years at a time, look for the alternative. But that's just me. The irrational move to me would be sticking with something broken for year. Now AMD has improved, no question. Hopefully they can take a serious look at your situation since they acknowledged it, without forcing you to wait 5 months.

I won't mention it again in this thread, but I did think your situation is similar since you were down since October. And I thought you went green at first glance but it was a friends build instead In any case, i'll leave you at it. Good luck with the situation regardless of what you do! I'll kindly butt out of the thread. Apologies.

Are you considering moving yourself over to Nvidia now too? I know I definitely would.

This is a SAD situation. It's hard for me to believe that AMD support wouldn't bust it's bucket to help you with a correct driver after all the $$$$ you spent. SAD.

Fixed that for you

The weakness of both companies is the lack of high end chips in ITX form factor. I am still looking forward to seeing something better than a GTX 760 or R9 270X in this form factor from either of the two.

I'm losing faith.

Cards bought on last week of October 2013. It's now March 2014. I've been owning those cards for 4 months. And I've been disabling two cards and play on single monitor instead of 4 cards and triple monitors.

Sell them while the mining tax is still collectable.

Chalk it up as a fun project, and go 4k..

Prices have started to fall back to MSRP. It may be a little late to jump on that boat.

Also, there is another beta patch that should drop within 2 weeks, may be worth waiting for the patch considering he has already waited this long.

Stress tested with AIDA64, Prime95, and various different benchmarks. After killing my first 4770K, I have been having pretty decent luck with picking hardware.

Here is an old benchmark:

In a worst case scenario I can always add in the Cooler Master SP Gold 1200W and run 3 PSUs for 4 cards rofl.

I don't want to hijack a thread, but making a new one is also pointless when there's alreayd a discussion on this one.

But is it normal for Hasswell to run hot? I mean in the 90s once in a while then average to 70 or 80 C under prime95 under a decent cooler (Noctua U9B in my case) when I have all 4 cores and 8 threads running at 3.8?

I have a i7 3930k to bottleneck this rig

Watcha talking about. You have a sick rig ?

CPU usage is usually 60 to 75 percent CPU usage on a new high end CPU. quad with ht is enough. Haswell is more then enough, both will As long as you use SSD, your not bottlenecking at all. Its all on the GPU.

It's normal unless you delidd the chip, which void the warranty but will bring better temp especially if you put IC diamond Ultra between the Die and IHS.

But 90'C for 3.8 is kinda high, maybe a bad mount, the i5 4670k I just installed in my friend's rig is running at 4.3 Ghz at 68'C - 72'C with a Swiftech H220.

It really depends on the chip, there seems to be large variance in the stock voltages and TIM thickness on chips. I personally never tested a stock Haswell chip since I delidded it prior to initial installation. The chip currently sits bare die under an EK block. My brother's stock 4770K on Corsair 100i runs around 60 degrees C under load. Also, prime95 does have the tendencies to draw extra voltage. Nevertheless, hitting the 90s on the chip at stock seems excessive even for a 4770K with your U9B. I would suggest checking the stock voltages and also reseating the cooler.

Also, I would recommend PMing me or starting your own thread if you have any additional questions.

Interesting. My best guess is 14.3 updated the BIOS (have no idea if BIOS have settings related to monitor handshaking/signal timings so guess could be totally off). Only guess this as I have experience with the 290x black screen issue that occurred after driver update. Revert to older driver didnt work, and issue followed card to different machine. Issue fixed with driver update(seem to be fixed by memory timing update via newer driver) .

Hi guys, I have a small update for you. I think AMD engineers are getting closer to a solution. Here is a email I received today:

Hello Karl,

I understand your frustration – I would feel the same; I believe the issue will be fixed next month, or as soon as possible as you are priority to me.

As you may know I’ve forwarded all of our email correspondence with the customer support team with urgency. And plan on doing so again today.

Karl, I apologize and will continue to keep you up to date as much as possible.

Meanwhile, I’d like to offer you a game code(s) as token of appreciation for your patience. If okay with you, I’d like to email you a code for Battlefield 4 and one for Thief – just let me know.

Best,

I still have faith and I'm crossing my fingers.

Is that from Sam? If so, awesome to be kept in the loop and receive a small token of appreciation for your patience. Really cool that they did that for you.

Hey bud.

Yes it is Sam. He is a (very) great guy and I don't even need to write him an e-mail for him to reply with more updates on the issue. He is really taking good care of my issue and me.

He is the reason why I still have faith because the cards would be already gone.

It's also very nice from them to offer some free games ..but I would prefer my cards to work as intended instead of free games, especially that I still have two unused Battlefield 4 codes and already have Thief . But you know, It's the thought that counts.

What is that quadfire bridge block you used? I can only find block for GTX card but not for AMD. Oh and may i know what kind of block you used?
