They arent recommending it in preference to intel, it is an option. Most review rigs will be using a Core i7 7700K,so it makes sense AMD uses it themselves.
Let me remind you that Nvidia is now recommending Ryzen builds.

2002 called, they want their DX9 back.No surprise there, Skylake/Kabylake are the current best CPUs at processing draw calls.
Yes, to be honest, I am sick about hearing about draw calls.2002 called, they want their DX9 back.
They used a 7700k because there is no better mainstream CPU in the market. Ryzen's "good enuff" ain't good enough for their marketing team.
Truth. This is the pitfall of being a cpu and gpu maker. They used a 7700k because there is no better mainstream CPU in the market. Ryzen's "good enuff" ain't good enough for their marketing team.
Was waiting for this one. Hahaha. Lots of sleep must've been lost over this decision.
You're addressing the wrong audience! All the same, it's cool to see AMD knows where to go for absolute best gaming performance. Good on them! I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision though - to cave in to the fact that performance trumps value when it's absolutely needed.Don't think so, 7700K dominates both Intels latest HEDT and AMDs Ryzen cpus. Would be dumb for any company to not show they products in the best possible light, hence RTG using the best available. We get that you love the guys in blue but try to see the broader picture.
Ryzen is a very good all round CPU but for gaming the 7700K is still the best. I suspect the 8700K will trump it shortly though. Or will it?? Could be slightly slower cores so perhaps it won't. Interesting times in the CPU world. I like it, the selection we have to choose from is getting better by the day.
Oh the irony...Most review rigs will be using a Core i7 7700K,so it makes sense AMD uses it themselves.

They simply used the fastest gaming CPU on the market at the moment. Ryzen is a great chip, it's just not fastest in games that's all (even though the difference is usually rather small especially when Ryzen is coupled with 3200Mhz RAM).
Ryzen has higher performance as well as value in other use cases. You're addressing the wrong audience! All the same, it's cool to see AMD knows where to go for absolute best gaming performance. Good on them! I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision though - to cave in to the fact that performance trumps value when it's absolutely needed.
Big enough for AMD to care
To me a little odd. Did you hear about the petaflop computer with 20 EPYC processors and 80 VEGA cards ?Why would they Not show the Radeon using the current best CPU for gaming? Everybody knows, at this time, the 7700k is the fastest overall gaming CPU. This is AMD's Radeon group doing the marketing Not the CPU division, and obviously wanting to put Their GPU in the best light. Of course they want the graphics performance to look as good as possible. No surprise, they've done it before.
