Radeon users: Do you see visual artifacts when you use Direct 3D and "FastZ Clear" enabled?

I ask because I just bought a Radeon 64MB from a user here at Anand, but it's an engineering sample. I've asked others who have also bought the card and they say they see it sometimes too. Now, I'm not saying that user is selling defective cards, but I want to know if this is a common problem and whether it as attributed to the drivers or just the card itself. Please give me your observations when you run Direct 3D apps with "Fast Z Clear/Optimization" enabled. Thanks!

I've been through about 10 Radeons, testing and trading up and never had a problem but FastZclearenabled is known to cause artifacting on some rigs.

I've had no problems here. Are you overclocking the card? Going too high on the OC is the only setting change I've ever made on my Radeon64 that has ever given me artifacts.

mine is oc'ed to 166 and hyperz enabled - I don't think i've noticed artifacts except when I oc'ed too far. could you describe it in 3dMark 2000 or q3a though, maybe I don't know what to look for.

I did. But that was a while back with much older drivers. Haven't tried any of their latest drivers since I don't own a Radeon anymore.

Also LE o'erclocked to 183 nothing seen yet. Engineering samples are not necessarily up to spec.

I have a Radeon 64 meg retail board o/c to 200/200. I see artifacts "occasionally" in direct3d games like Giants and THPS2. It's not a big deal really, they are only noticeable if you're looking for them.

I don't get any artifacts, even in 3DMark 2000. I have a Radeon 32mb DDR at stock 166mhz.

ATIonic,
Yeah probably, but if I remember correctly it did the same thing when it was clocked to 183/183 (the default). As I said before it is barley noticeable, so I think it may be due to something else.

I don't get anything anymore. My engineering sample took a major dump. It's Dead!!! Hoping to get in touch with the seller and see what can be done. Haven't even had it a month. Kind of a waste of money.
