Radeon VE dual monitor setup??

My new Radeon VE card install went fine, no problems reported anywhere in the install procedure. One monitor works fine. However, the 2nd monitor cannot be engaged, despite software otions that allow it, and remains dead in Win98SE regardless of what I do. Both monitors show the same info during boot -- until Windows begins, when the 2nd monitor goes blank.

Anyone play with this yet or successfully get it going?

My computer is a brand new stable AMD T-bird 850 RAID-0 machine oc'd to 140x7 for 980, no problems in any way.

No remnants of old video card software either...

Both monitors -- 19" Samsung and ADI -- work fine on my other machine in Matrox G400 Max DualHead mode.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

I really dont know what to tell ya only sounds like a win98 prob to me. got the latest drivers?

i only replied mainly to ask how the g400 max performed? in minor gaming. Halflife and what not?

I've only installed strategy games on the G400 Max system -- like the C&C games. Red Alert 2 flies on my P3-800 system at high res 32 bit color. Couldn't tell you what it does with 3D games, though my son's run Tomb Raider (which version?? don't know -- that is a 3d game, righ?) and says it's plenty fast for him.

The main thing about the Matrox is that it is absolutely beautiful and precise in 2D. For design, text, graphic or other visual work, it is really tough to beat.

Even as I write, I am thinking, maybe I should've just gone to a G450 anyway. This ve, in comparison to the G400, is quite underdeveloped in its dual display aspects, and if it doesn't do dual display properly, it's pretty much useless for me.

Anyway, anyone out there have any experience with the Radeon VE??

Sorry, not too many people have the VE (I don't think). What drivers are you using?

I wish I had a VE to play around with (and maybe help you out).

P.S. Did you make sure to remove all Matrox drivers and references? *Maybe* they are conflicting? Don't know...

Sorry I do not have experience with the VE. All I have is a question for you. Does the documentation say what the maximum screen resolution is on the 2nd screen? Thanks.

Within the DISPLAY PROPERTIES, you can make the monitor connect to the DVI port the primary display. Try to get this working first and report back.

I've beeen on the phone with ATI half the day...they're stumped too. I tried the VE in a couple of my other systems and it works fine on everything except the Abit KT7R and KT7AR....anyone else having problems like this?

In display settings, is the other monitor enabled?
There is a tab in the desktop configuration that displays the primary/secondary setup as well.
It's kinda funny , because i use a black desktop background and when i enabled the second monitor(it was my tv) I couldn't tell if it was working until i dragged my mouse across the entire extended desktop
