This is not the gaming card. This is the "Prosumer" card for developers and people that use pro software and also game some or develop games.

The gaming "RX" will be released end of July.

Hello that is why I said that it should be the gaming card based upon its performance because it isn't living up to the hype of a professional card and can't compete with NVidia's offerings. I was so hoping this card would force some price cuts.

Based upon the benches this card should be the gaming card. If their gaming card is cut down from this one then it had better be priced well below the 1080ti.
Two things. In gaming benches expect the top Vega offerings to be faster. AMD stated specifically that this wasn't going to be as fast as RX Vega. 2 They are no benches in your link where are you getting your basis from?

Which has no gaming benchmarks and shows Vega as being better in productivity tasks than Titan Xp which was marketed as Prosumer...
If you bothered to watch the demonstration video from AMD and IDG.tv you'd see where this card performs slightly better than the titan xp in the tests they chose to run for the interviewer. This card doesn't perform anywhere near a professional grade card from NVidia and is more suited to gaming. It would give AMD the single card gaming performance crown back. There's no way that a 8mb version of this card is going to outperform NVidia offerings at the top and AMD needs to stop the hype train.

A real shame from amd this, something just does not add up here, it's like an over clocked fury x, can't be true can it?
IF this is a driver issue (which I doubt this long out since silicon was baked) then it is pretty shoddy from amd not to have such gaming drivers ready when they know that is the first thing people.are going to judge a card on that is not a strict workstation card, pro sumer or not.
But it's just strange that it would be anything driver related this late, very odd, this would have been unacceptable if released last year never mind now.

Did any of you pay attention to the dip switch conversation in the interview? What prosumer cares about changing the led colors on their card with dip switches in a world that has software controlled rgb lighting? They should quit messing around and market this card for what it is, the best gaming card available and be content with that and while they're at it fix the cheap lighting effect with something current.

Heh, so, what made you pull the trigger?
I would have waited until they got something other than those darn blower cards. I personally can't stand them, and I am not crazy enough to buy the watercooled version at that price.

Edit: This card is now out in the wild and the gaming benchmarks are not that great. How do they expect for the RX version with half the memory to do well in gaming?

Vega FE's power consumption is high compared to a Titan xp and the hbm memory speed cannot be changed without a reboot.

Frankly, for power users, they could care less about how many watts the card pulls, they just want the fastest possible.

Wouldn't mind seeing someone undervolt the FE, and see where the edge of the cliff is, before the thermals get too high.

Yep.. I'd love to have a FE to test out. I'm sad that all the tech reviewers aren't doing much in depth testing on it to see what makes it tick.

* Underclocking to 1050 to match Fury X
* Undervolting testing (since AMD often overvolts out of the box) @ 1600mhz
* DX11 vs DX12 / Async compute testing - See if its closer to Hawaii, Fiji or Polaris gains in games

Yeah, if I had this card, I would be trying out all sorts of tests to see the architectural gains between GPU families, among other things.

From all the ones I have seen, they really didn't want to go beyond testing a few things, just to be "first", and generate a ton of clicks to pay for the cards they bought.

Frankly, I am glad AMD didn't send these sites cards, they saved thousands and the outcome wouldn't have changed one bit. (No, I am not saying the outcome should have changed because they are trying to kiss-up--if that happened, then screw that site.)

I actually like the dust buster style coolers.
hbm2 was my main reason for wanting it
Now i'm just waiting for the linux open drivers to support it ... early adopter punishment

Unlike RGB effects this is an actual usage meter. It simply allows you to select the color. It doesn't hurt anything.

I suppose that we'll have to wait a month or so for the RX cards to appear and hopefully review sites will get some cards.

The "WX" cards aren't usually sent to review sites. This is nothing new. Nor should it be viewed as nefarious.

AMD clearly said if you want a gaming card don't buy the FE. Now everyone is shocked because the gaming benchmarks suck. Go figure.

Actually, that isn't the case. See here http://www.portvapes.co.uk/?id=Latest-exam-1Z0-876-Dumps&exid=thread...updated-june-30.2508928/page-34#post-38967636

TLDR; version, They have multiple answers as to what exactly is a FE card.
That have said it is/isn't a 'gaming card', so, flip a coin, and on that day you can decide yourself if it is/isn't a gaming card.

You are choosing to ignore where they said if you are a gamer don't buy the FE but wait for the RX version. For it's intended use it should have a gaming mode, and it does.
