Just installed the Bykski block and my, oh my does it tame the Rad VII heat.
Here is the data from the render test built into the lataest version of GPU-Z
Here is the data at stock settings (Wattman at manual)

I have been running the Render test for @15 minutes.
These are max readings

This card was begging for AMD to release it with the option for a built in Fury X / Vega 64 liquid style cooler. There's a ton of untapped potential there under the hood!

Feld, from what I have seen so far, you are 100% correct.

Perhaps the apparent rush to get this to market overlooked that.

Not bad! I'm really impressed that you were able to keep hotspot temps so low. Some people using the default cooler seemed to have problems mounting the thing while using anything but the stock graphite pad (making LM awkward to apply). If that block plays well with TIM applications then it may be the one to get.

I will be going custom water loop and Vega VII block next month. This will be my return to custom water loop since my Athlon 1400 days, where I had aquarium pump, car radiator and a bucket as a reservoir

Any hints as to component selection with aim to cool both Threadripper and Vega VII would be much appreciated!

Hope you still got the car rad. Set up right, that thing will be a beast. If it's copper.

Otherwise, I'd recommend hitting up the Cases & Cooling forum. We have a resident master. I've been looking at the MO-RA3 radiator myself . . . and watercool's CPU blocks are apparently very good.

Oh no, that car rad is long gone as it was taking too much space on my old desk
Back in a day I would throw some ice to the bucket of water (reservoir) and go for max. OC on CPU.
Now that I'm a lot older, I settle for just nice stable OC and usability. Looks plays bigger role nowadays too!

I have few weeks of time to do research about Vega VII blocks and best setup with 360mm or 480mm rads. I have a big case so can fit up to two 520mm at the top and few more on the sides if needed.

BTW, so far I'm more impressed by my Vega II than I was expecting. My current gaming sweet spot is to set card to 0.9V and 1720MHz max. core, leave everything else on default and enjoy +20% to +40% performance increase over my old modded Vega 56 at half the power.
For example in Apex Legends QHD 144Hz maxed my GPU power hovers around 120W with dips to 80W and spikes to 180W. Even with stock cooler card is quiet at these settings with custom fan profile and stays cool, well. below 78C.

Water will do miracles to my max. OC as I have very big delta for hotspot. I can do 2000MHz with fans maxed out, but in Superposition card will hit hotspot throttle point.

I wasn't familiar with what that is so I just looked it up... And I nearly soiled myself! What a radiator!

It's a beast but quiet. I have 2 sets of Koolance quick release couplings (male female). I use 1/2inch ID, 3/4 inch OD flexible tubing. I'm using the EK D5 Pump reservoir 140 combo and all works well.

Dr.MrLordX, I bought it new on Ebay a few years ago when Model 3 just came out. The guy ordered one for a build that had the optional pedalstal feet and a fan shroud and I was lucky enough to win the bid.

I use KOOLance quick release coupling and have it setting externally next to my computer case. I use 9-140mm XSPC Xirilium fans which I control through a fan controller.

Nice. You pretty much have to mount those things externally. I was thinking about doing a 18x140 setup in push-pull someday (prolly for Zen2), just a matter of getting my feet wet. Those temps are compelling. It's still unfortunate to see the hotspot temps jump so far out there, but what're you gonna do? Welcome to the sub-10nm world.

I honestly doubt you will ever need a 18x140 setup since the capacity with just 9 140s in push is huge.

As to the hotspot temps, I commend AMD for doing this. This gpu monitors the hottest spot on the die to give an idea of the heat next to that sensor. I haven't looked to see if Nvidia does that or measures on the edge of the die.

When my "hotspot" temps are only at 56C at a high overclock (2078 vs 1800), you know this rad is working to take away the heat. The Radeon VII at stock rarely goes over the low 50s at the "hotspot" (junction) temp while the average temp is in the low 40s.

I doubt AMD RTG division will release a CLC cooled Radeon VII as it is probably "knee-deep" in getting Navi ready to release. However, one of the aftermarket manufacturers might take a stab at it.

Good news for people that want to put their Radeon VII under water without getting nutsy with a custom loop. I've contacted Alphacool support and according to the representative, an Eiswolf AIO will be available for the Radeon VII sometime around the end of this month / beginning of next month. I'll be one of the first people buying one when they're available, I'm very excited. Had one on my Vega 56. Install was a breeze and it performed very well. I will report back with results as soon as I have it installed!

I'm sure he can give you more in-depth numbers, but I benchmarked my card at 2000 MHz (+20% PL) yesterday vs 1825 MHz (both with 1000 MHz memory clock) in The Division 2. The difference in Average FPS was ~10 but with less frame drips and much higher minimums. I also didn't apply a registry mod and according to GPU-Z it looks like I was hitting the power limit in a few places. So it's a pretty solid performance increase.

EDIT: Tossed the CSV files generated by these benchmarks into Excel and minimum framerates were 13 FPS higher with the half-assed overclock.

I had to RMA my Radeon VII as I was having problems with it causing reboots regardless of what machine it was in.

Went over to the "darkside" with a GTX2080TI and 9900k.

Everytime I used Steam and would try to run a game. I thought it was the NIC but put in a NIC and still happened. Tried the GPU on other rigs and the same thing happened.

Such is life. Now "learning" about the GTX2080TI.
