I'm looking to build a new mid/high end system and I'm trying to decide on a video card setup. I'm trying to stay under $400, but could go as high as $500 or so, right now I was wondering if I'm better off getting a x1950xtx 512mb and someday upgrade to crossfire or if I shoul go with dual x1900xt 256mb in crossfire? Is there a benefit ot having the two processers over the single processor. I like ATI, I've always had good luck with them, so I'm not really looking NVidia. For the rest of the system I'm looking at Core 2 Duo 6600, 2GB ram, and probably 975x chipset mobo, any thoughts? Thanks.

if you can, get a ~$200 card and wait for dx10 which should only be about a month, but maybe you can get one around christmas time... if you really dont want to wait, i guess crossfire would be a good option, but in all reality i would wait for dx10 cards and get one or maybe 2??

Get a single x1900xt 256mb and when you need more graphics power, buy a newer next-gen high end card. History has shown that:
1. A single high end card is usually better than 2 midrange cards, and
2. A single high end card is usually better that 2 high end cards of the previous generation.

Cool thanks, also can you crossfire different cards, i.e. if I can get ahold of a x1900 crossfire 512mb at a silly low price, can I crossfire it with a 256mb x1900xt?

Don't Crossfire need the cards to have the same memory ? Or would the 512 Crossfire Edition disable 256 to match the slave ?

I think the CF card would only use half its mem to match the other card. It has to, because there are no 256mb x1900xt CF cards.
