What kind of errors are you referring to? I received the same card and don't have any problems at all besides a problem with Rage3D Tweak (but Powerstrip remedied it). Start a new thread in the Video Forum and you're bound to receive more aid for whatever conflicts you're having.

Thank you for this great deal. I got this video card about a week ago and I wasnt able to test the TV out function till now. This is way better than the gainward gf3 ti200 tv out. Many of you said u cant use tv out and monitor, but I can use both at the same time. The problem Im having is that both tv and monitor display the same desktop. Is there any way I can setup them independently of each other. I tried hydravision, but it looks complicate. Can anyone give me some instructions. Thanks

Do youself a favor and just buy the Ti4200 128MB. What's the point spend $99 on a card and you have to upgrade yet again in less than 6 months?

And we have our first Nividiot. Note the characteristic drool patterns. A prime example of the subspecies.

The ti4200 is 200 dollars (128mb version), even the 64mb one for 150-160 is not worth the 50 to 60 dollar increase b/c the 8500 is not that far behind. U really thinking payin 50% more for a card is really worth a 10% increase??? I am not an ATI or NVIDIA fan, I just buy the best bang for the buck that is why i picked up one of these. Although I would like more ppl to buy ati so nvidia would lower there price. KEKEKE

It is quite ironic that I am called a "Nividiot", because I have never owned an nVidia card, yet. LOL

Was using ATI all the way: Xpert with Voodoo2, then ATI MAXX, now with Radeon LE. Yet I did just order a Ti4200 from newegg at $185.

Why not Radeon 8500LE (128MB at $150)? Because after reading all the reviews from various places (Toms Hardware being the most convincing, and here on AnandTech), I want to give nVidia a try. Yes I am paying $35 more, but with moderate o/c I am getting equal or near Ti 4400 performance. Comparing the performance gain with Radeon 8500LE, I think a mere $35 to $40 is well worth the bucks.

Off course, there is the debate between 64MB and 128 MB, I won't repeat here, but IMHO, 128MB can make your video card a longer useful life.

That being said, I do worry about the 2D quality of the Ti4200, but from posts concerning this question, I think it's worth the risk.

The bottom line is, I am just trying to offer my opinion here. Am I an "idiot" doing that? Maybe, but that's the forum all about - sharing...

I think he called you an idiot for your idiotic statement.

The 4200 is maybe 10-20% faster. But as John Carmack has said, the 8500 is a more technologically advanced card. Also, if you read the thread carefully, this $99 card has 3.3ns ram which has allowed most people to clock this card as fast a a full-fledged radeon 8500. These kind of deals is why we read this forum instead of just walking into any old B&M and picking up some overpriced retail box.

Face it, even the 4200 is sucking wind in Morrowind now. How is it going to do in Doom III 'six months' down the road.

So, for 2x the price and lesser 2d quality, you get a few more frames in Quake III?

I'm looking on newegg.com right now and I see a $98 bulk 8500LE, which I guess is the "$99" people in this thread are talking about.

Then there's a $99 OEM 8500LE, which I guess was the "$112" that was discussed. So looks like newegg dropped the price....

So now that there's only a $1 spread between the 2, is OEM card w/ dual crt feature worth the performance hit if I'm only interested in current games?

I'm ready to get one of these cards - I'm upgrading from a TNT

If i were you I'd wait until next week. There's supposed to be a price cut across the board on all the 8500's. You'll probably be able to get a full retail 64mb 8500 for $100 or maybe less.

I wouldn't. The "powered by ATI cards" have some issuses as far as updating the drivers. If they're the same price you should go with the real thing.

Just got my new Dell Optiplex GX260T at work (P4 2GHz, 256MB DDR-SDRAM) and when I cracked it open I found an AGP slot. The integrated video just won't cut it, so I ordered the Radeon 8500. Time to have some fun during the slow periods. Thanks Vostok!

Hey Vostok, Newegg's total price on the card is now $98 since they are giving free shipping. Might want to edit the post to let people know this is truly a sub-$100 card now.

Edit: AND the 275/275 non-LE model is now $116 shipped. You can catch that here.

How are you guys overclocking your Radeons? Is it through 3rd party software or is there a way to access the card's bios? Also, the links early on in this thread to download the flash utility no longer work.. so if anyone has a working one it'd be much appreciated!

Is the $95 8500LE bulk (that's available today, 7/5) the same as the $99 that you guys bought (3.3ns RAM)? Thanks.

Just rec'd one today I purchased last week for $98 :disgust: It has the 3.3 ns Ram. Card, tv-out cable and driver cd came in bubblewrap. I've downloaded the latest official drivers and a tweak program from here but haven't installed it yet. Hopefully will have time tomorrow.
