"Breast Christmas Ever"

TAMPA, Fla. - Radio giant Clear Channel Communications has come under fire from women's health advocates over a Christmas contest in which stations granted breast enlargement surgeries to women in four cities.

In the "Breast Christmas Ever" contest, 13 women were awarded the procedure after writing essays to the stations explaining why they wanted larger breasts. A Tampa station claimed to receive more than 91,000 entries.

Clear Channel said it had nothing to do with the contest and that it was a decision by local station managers to hold the promotion. The contest was aired on Clear Channel stations in Tampa, Jacksonville, St. Louis and Detroit.

The contest has drawn the ire of both the National Research Center for Women & Families and the National Organization for Women (news - web sites). NOW has urged its supporters to file complaints with the Federal Communications Commission (news - web sites) against Clear Channel and its stations.
Seriously. They're not your boobs, so just STFU about it already. I know I lean toward PC-ness on occasion, but this is just stupid.

Wow.

Let the women get those stupid, big-ass, fake, round tits if they want to.

It should be legal to euthanize self-righteous idiots.

Just ridiculous. It's sad how power much the religious right has gained recently, talk about going backwards...

Ditto. They have no right to impose their morals on other people. Anyways, what can they do if the radio station decides to stay with the contest?

both those stated organizations are not religious. As a matter of fact, NOW is the very definition of a left wing feminazi organization.

2 others have already stated it but my god... You ended up sounding very ignorant. I love the immediate need for many to blame things on religion.

I think perhaps my point just flew above your head. By miles. How in a free society can anyone's view, be it womynism or whatever else, gain any credence when it basically states "we have the right to control you, despite your actions not affecting others"? Examples like this have been cropping up all over the place and are getting more frequent since Doofus II was(n't) elected; look at the fines imposed on Howard Stern by the FCC, for instance. An atmosphere which allows it and encourages it is how; a christian government.

I have no idea where you guys figured that NOW = religious. Just to make a point, NOW = National Organization of Women. Totally secular

what's the name of the men's group ? What ? We don't have one ?!??? Sonova...

Seriously though, it's obvious there are those who want this (namely the hundreds of thousands who wrote in)... where is there a problem ? Stern did this once (or a few times) didn't he ? Maybe these women's groups just ran out of things to protest.

If it flew above my head it's because of your aim. Your first attack was against religion and there was no religion involved in the article. You need to adjust your sites or change your ammo. Bad aim or not... You came across as ignorant. I'm not the only one that thinks so either.

It's not my fault if you can't make obvious connections.

As soon as I saw the thread title The MJ Morning Show came to mind. They are based out of Tampa so it's got to be them because when we used to be able to listen to them they did these contests. I really miss hearing them on the way to work.

That logic is not the strong point of the left. No, that point hasn't been missed at all.

Been there done that...
In Canada...
Radio Station in Quebec City made the same contest, except that the finalists were invited to tell people on the air why the wanted these. The girl who won used the moeny for something else, but only one women's organisation (anarchist-communist i believe) went against it.

Right now the station is facing canada's FCC equivalent, CRTC, in federal court, not for the breasts contest or the smallest penis in their antenna's range, but for some comments on some women that wouldn't even send Stern or any radio host of the like in front of the FCC.

Whee, semantics & misdirection... Back to the original point, since it seems obvious you zealots want to avoid it  There's a reason the terms "religious right" and "conservative christian" exist. Ponder that for a while (put icepacks on your heads to avoid overheating).
