radio issues on a 05 pon grand prix

I have a 05 Grand Prix GXP.
For the most part it's a great car.
1st But for some strange reason my CD player won't play certain cds. Some are actually ones it previously played. Is this common?
2nd The Digital information such as the speed and radio station and whatever other information is displayed on the windshield stop working. The dealership said it would be costly to check into. Is this also common with these cars or is it just a simple fuse?
3rd I'm working on my 2nd remote. Both stopped unlocking the car. The other buttons work just not the unlock button. Is that common?

Welcome to newer cars and their electrical nightmares. The CD player is probably on its way out, pretty common thing on these cars. The HUD is what you are talking about i think, first thing would be to check the fuse on it. It could be something to do with the body module not allowing the unlock function to work correctly. probably not the fobs if they are acting the same.

1.) Probably just failing due to old age/abuse. A car is not a friendly place for electronics given the extreme temperatures and constant vibration.

2.) Not sure, but knowing GM some module likely failed.

3.) Fobs wear out. I mean, clicking those buttons at least twice daily for a decade is a lot of use. If all the other buttons work I would hop on ebay, buy a new fob and call it a day.

1. Get a working OEM head unit off Ebay, or replace with something modern (touch, GPS, etc.) from Crutchfield for @$400.
