Radio Shack cyberhome DVD for $48.99

At my local RS in NJ the cyberhome DVD is going for $48.00. It is a progressive scan and mp3 compatible. Any feedback on this will be greatly appreciated

I have one and all I can tell you that it plays anything I have put in it SVCD/VCD MPEG JPEG MP3's and its small.

Good value for the Money.
Tested for VCD,SVCD,MPEG,MP3 and 5.1 Dolby sound effect.
Small compact.
I made it region free with the help of dvdrhelp.com

I picked one of these up and immediately loved the size and looks. After a while I thought the movies that I was using to check it out, seemed dark. I directly compared movie scenes with two other Players and verified the darkness. I could lighten by using the menu on the Sony TV but, this would mean changing the settings back and forth for everthing else. I then went to the Cyberhome menu and was surprised that it only had a few steps (not smoothly variable) to lighten or darken. One step of lightening was to much. I found that one step lighter and one step up in contrast helped, but it still washed out the highlights.
Reluctantly I returned it.

I have had one of these since December when BB had them for $70. IMO, for the money it is a pretty decent DVD player. The video is very good when using the component video outputs and looks very very sharp on a Hi Definition screen, or any tv capable of displaying the progressive video output. It is hackable to make it region free, as far as macrovision free for recording to a tape or what not I don't know. Use www.google.com I have had some problems with it where it will skip a chapter or something or will start stuttering but this is usually fixed just by resetting it by inputting a code on the remote. The sound output is pretty good as well using the digital optical fiber output. Its not going to beat a top of the line Onkyo or Denon, etc. p-scan dvd player but for $50 it is definitely worth the money.

I have two of these and they can be made region- & Macrovision-free. Good value for the money so far; let's see how long they last.

lokni, what's the reset code? One of mine occasionally stutters as well and I end up powering off/restarting the unit.

How did you make it macrovision free. I just tested it by connecting it thru a vcr and it fades in and out
