Well this is a perfect example of the model working just fine. Others here have paid and been over the moon. You didn't and your not bent out of shape because you paid for it.

You are bent out of shape, but I'm pretty sure that happened way before this album release.

Yes. If you buy the £40 box edition.

For 40 pounds, I would've preferred a DVD-A or SACD version. I might still buy that anyway because I do like the album so far. I then have get my turntable from my parents house. I hope they sell a plain cd version.

Edit: I heard this morning on the radio that the mp3 versions are also intentionally low quality versions of what will be on the box set (and hopefully cd) versions.

Radiohead isn't for everyone, but that can be said about any band that doesn't do straight ahead rock. Have you heard the relatively more melodic early work like The Bends or Pablo Honey and songs like Creep? What's your opinion about those songs?

I heard a review this morning on the radio about Radiohead's album from someone who already liked the band. She, of course, loved the new album. She was later asked if there was any album (by any artist) that she thought was overrated. Her answer was "Any Pink Floyd album" because each one was an impenetrable wall of sound. I laughed because I've heard the same about Radiohead.

Man, I can see that this definately had no record company involved. No record company in their right mind would let this album come out. However, the fact that it is radiohead will sell it alone.

Anyways, Red Dawn, I can see where you are ocming from. I have felt this way since Amnesiac. I seriously feel like they have put minmal effort in this album.

As for the album it self....I am gonna burn it to CD and listen to it in the car.

Cold Plays music is melodic, this album is self indulgent tripe. To say it's mediocre would be over rating it. It's so non descript NFS4 would probably give it 4 stars.

So I guess i'll chime in here..

As you can tell from my name I am a huge radiohead fan..I saw them 6 times last summer and it was a blast so I know most of these songs from the live practices they were doing. I've listened to it last night and have been all day at work.

1. Arpeggi is still an amazing song, it seems a little less dreamy. Live it was very blended together, on the mp3 you can hear it a little more detailed.

2. Videotape - This is really a song I am dissapointed in. I liked videotape a lot but they changed it. Maybe i'll get use to it and learn to lvoe it just as much but in the live versions a nice good funky beat would come in during part of the song, turning it up a notch. This version keeps it slow and dreary..

3. Bodysnatchers - One of my favorite songs they played live and still is...

4. 15 Step - They took out the big bass hits and such the beat is still there a long with the guitar rifts. The change some of the counts and stuff but I like it.

5. Nude - Wow finally i think they got it right. Nude(big ideas) has been a Radiohead b-side forever..its a pretty old song and its gone through a lot of changes..

6. Reckoner - decent but not my favorite...

7. House of Cards- This is the one song I really DID NOT like live. The concerts were all awesome and up beat, or special and then this sogn would come on and it went no where. It was a little catchy but it just didn't move anywhere. They changed it and I like it now.

The other songs are ok and i'll commenton them later.

I am really surprised they didn't put Bangers and Mash, Down is the New up, and 4 Minute Warning on this. They will be in on the box set but those were REALLY good songs.

All radiohead albums grow on you. heck the first album I heard from them was Amnesiac and I really wasn't a fan....6 months later I was hooked. This one will probably grown on me as well but for right now I am not overly impressed. Its a bit slow for me..I mean slow is ok. There other albums are slow too but they just seem more powerful than this one.

I'll post more later...HOORAH FOR A TOUR!!!

Dunno if anyone's posted this yet but for those curious minds out there you can get an email at the end of the month with their financial figures following the release of the album. It'll be unofficial of course but still I'm assuming fairly close to the real numbers.

pre -ordered the download, gave them 5 pounds

<---- huge fan

however, I think i will definately have to let this one grow on me. I was first introduced to radiohead with hail to the thief, and then worked my way back. Took awhile to grow on me, but now I love them. I suspect that will be the same for this album

Seems like a great album so far.

The only thing that bugs me is the 160k/sec rate. For many people this just isn't an excectable quality level. A lossless option would be nice, perhaps with at minimum price point.

I love the idea of selling digitally direct, and I'll love it even more when a band a like does it. While I really don't care for their music, I wish Radiohead well in this endeavor. This has the potential of really shaking up the music industry.

I am so far disappointed and underwhelmed. I am a very big radiohead fan and have liked all of their albums with the possible exception of pablo honey (which had a few good tracks but was amateurish otherwise). This album feels like a Thom Yorke album or maybe a crappy B side to Amnesiac. I couldn't stand Yorke's solo album and as such I have little positive to say about this. I'll give it several more listens, like any good album is due, but so far, I feel like what I paid ($7 plus some weird online charge) is too much.

I am slowly working my way into the album. I love Bodysnatchers so much that that alone seems worth the 5 pounds I paid. I really like the arrangement of Nude too. The vocals on this album are some the best I have heard from Thom Yorke.

I spent the time and energy to really listen carefully to the entire album this evening, and I really really like it. I don't love the first track, but the rest are really right up my alley. In some respects it feels less ambitious than their last four studio albums - it doesn't really reach in the same way as anything they've made in the last ten years - but it's highly enjoyable and in some ways I think it's the most vulnerable, emotionally open album Thom Yorke has yet written. I am admittedly a Radiohead whore, but I am most impressed.

I am waiting for the 2nd disc to reserve judgement on it but overall I like it a lot.

Its theme is very unifying and honest and makes you feel better after you've finished it. I think everyone can relate to the emotion/message conveyed by the record.

That said, I want bangers and mash!!

it was ok , worth $3 anyway, at least worth $3 to "stick it to the man"
