unless you are planning to air up the tires while on the go, I would get a 120V air inflator. They are much quieter and quicker.

I have it in my car trunk, you never know what will happen on road.
Base on the reviews, I certainly understand it could have already broken by the time I get a flat tire. Well, for a merely $8.xx, I will give it a try.

The trouble is that you need to patch the hole before a little air pump does any good, unless you have a slow leak and don't notice it, or one of the funky spares that needs to be inflated.

Occassionally I get flats when the weather turns real cold, especially after a long drive (hot tires) the day before. This type of thing is great to get it pumped up enough to limp to a gas station. I use a Campbell Hausfield I got from Walmart (now runs about $20), has run flawlessly for years.

PS: the flashlight portion of it is reasonably useful, if for nothing more than safety if you are broken down at night.

Walmart is a dandy option for low cost 12v compressor, or Harbor Freight, but not Radio Shack.

Who makes a remotely reasonably priced 120v tire inflator in a small size?

You want one with Direct Drive like this that will probably last forever.
http://www.amazon.com/Slime-COMP06-P...dp/B000M8R0QM/

Ive seen this on sale as low as $30.00 well worth the investment because with a low tire you dont want to drive it to the gas station you can solve it right there. Generally its enough to get you to the tire place if its a slow leak too.

I have one like that, lasted a long time, but nothing like forever and its not 120v its 12v. Very similar to the one HF has on sale from time to time around $20.

The cheap diaphragm type can also work well, just not the super cheap ones from companies that only sell that type of thing seasonally.

It's fine for the price. works in a pinch, doesn't take much room. Just don't run it for long periods at time (manual says 15 minutes before allowing to cool-down) The car-power extension cable cost me more (note: I needed the extension to reach a car in a garage that I needed to fill up, normal use the cord length is fine)

Cheapest most reliable tire inflator is a LONG hose with a locking schrader on both ends. Hook one end to the low tire, and tap a "little" out of the other three.

I personally have one of those Walmart tire inflators in each of the family vehicles and each one has paid for itself on many occasions.

That said, I must admit that the use of the long hose to tap air from your other tires is a pretty darn good idea...heck, who even says that it has to be one of your tires that you tap into, huh?

hahah good point the spare has air too and so do other cars near you hahahhahaha. thanks for laughs, only problem is if yourtire has giant hole you just fuct your self out of oging anywhere with 2 flat tires. best bet is tire patch kit (3$) and electric pump and maybe that hose for backup when your 99 cent world pump dies.

LOL So true. Had I done that with my last flat I would have had more than one and you only have one spare tire.

You only have to use the pump once to make it worth it and there are many times you might come out to a low tire that just needs a little air better to have it before you destroy the tire getting to the tire center or a gas station that still has air pumps. Cost of tire is greater than one of these pumps. The life span on tires and gas saved is worth it alone. Plus you can help out a co-worker or friend in a bind.

Also I have put on the spare tire to find out its flat too but held up being pumped up. Ive heard of a number of people not knowing their spare was flat until they went to use it. No one ever checks their spare until its needed.

The one linked below is not in the same price range but has served me well for a few years now. Moves enough air to get the job done much sooner, plus can seal beads on wheelbarrow or lawn tractor tires too if you bounce them while filling.

The catch is it draws too much current for a lighter outlet, has clamps for direct battery power. It or it's twin the MF-1050 are sometimes a few bucks cheaper on ebay.

It's no substitute for a shop air compressor, but quite a bit more portable.
