raid 0 with partitions

I want to set up raid 0 with two 80 GB hard drives. I also want to break the 160 GB array into partitions. Is this a reasonable idea, and if so what is the best method for setting it up?

I have created partitions before with fdisk, and this requires the hard drives to be formatted while creating the partitions, right? My motherboard has a highpoint technologies raid controller, and I will have to install the drivers for the controller after formatting the hard drives. So I don't know if there is a way to set up the raid 0 before partitioning the hard drives.

If I install everything including the raid and then reformat the hard drives, will fdisk recognize it as one big 160 GB hard drive?

First thing you need to do is to establish the array.
Then boot from the windows cd.
Press F6 to Load the drivers for the controller or you may have to load them manually from a floppy, it can be a real pain. My computer would not respond to me hitting F6.
Windows will see the 160GB as a single hard drive. You can choose the size of the partition you would like windows to install to. Windows installer will format it just fine for you.

I believe if you decide to format, the computer will see the full 160GB if you have just one partition as long as the array has not been broken.
