RAID boot speed/problems

I got an Abit AT7 w/ onboard raid. It was a refurb board (shoulda know better), and I'm have some booting problems. I've got all the latest bios and drivers installed (just thought I get that out) I've got 2 identical 80GB drives.

When I turn the PC on, I get a big delay (15-20 sec) when the RAID drives are being detected (just after the initial Bios screen). Once it finds the drives and recognizes them as RAID 0, then it pops up "Verifying DMI Pool Data...Update sucessful" and then another 15-20 sec pause and "BOOT DISK FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" . (no there is not a floppy in the floppy drive) and the bios is set up to only boot from the RAID setup. IF I wait another ~15 sec and hit enter, the system boots fine. Once into windows, I can run Sandra2003, and it benches right on where it should be, so I know I'm performing OK.

Question 1
Anyone have an idea if there is anything I can do besides return the board?

Does booting a RAID system normally take longer than IDE single drive systems?

I'm trying to decide if I want to stick with a RAID 0 setup, if the boot time when compared to a single IDE setup is too much greater, I think I'll stick with that.

What happens if you put a floppy on it?

Did you set it to boot from raid?i think that might be your problem here.

Yes, all three boot devices are set to RAID
I also have a floppy drive hooked up
