raid driver for redhat 7.2

I have a kk266-r mobo from iwill. May i know do i need a update raid driver for linux redhat 7.2 ? thanks

If you are using a raid card of some sort, you will probably need a driver. Check the website of the company that makes the chip.

IDE Raid?

I know red hat 7.1 wouldn't even touch IDE raid cards, something about most IDE raid cards are software and not hardware driven (not anywhere near 100% sure of that), kinda like a Winmodem is.

I asked a few Red Hat gurus that last summer as well as Promise Tech support, and they gave me a "not in heck" reply.

Granted, 7.2 might be a whole new ball game. Check with the controller manufacturer and see what they say.

HPT has linux drivers for their BIOS assisted raid cards. I think promise is also working on some, but I wouldnt bet on it.

I got a Asus a7v266-e with a Promise ide-raid controler, and Asus have drivers for Linux.
I have never tryed it with Linux only with win98se....

well the mobo i have is kk266r which have a onboard IDE raid from ami. I tried to search iwill webside but couldnt find the lattest linux driver. They only have xp driver for the raid.

I've been using 3-ware ide raid cards since 7.0, I highly reccomend them, I think the are hardware controlled though
