RAID SCSI Ultra160/other Ultra devices question

This is my first time going SCSI RAID and I am pretty confident. IDE RAIDs went fine for me. I will be using 2 IBM LZX drives and an Adaptec 2100S Raid Ultra160 controller card. This is a single channel card. My question is (don't laugh) can I add additional SCSI Ultra devices (CDRom, etc) to the channel while I have a RAID setup as well? 68 to 50 pin converter?? Thanks in advance for any advice.

This is only a guess because I have never used that equipment but I set up RAID configs all the time. I don't think you will have a problem so long as you don't try to split the one channel to both the internad and external. Doesn't sound like thats what you have in mind any way.

Actually, it looks as if Adaptec suggests some configurations to be split betweent the channels. External and internal. Just as long as each end is terminated. Anyone have any other suggestions before I hose a couple HDs?? LMK, thanks.

Yes... Most if not all controllers allow you to select drives on a given channel for an array. If you have drives ID0 and ID1 on a single channel you can (provided you have the connectors on the cable) hook up drives ID2 and ID3 and make a seperate array without effecting the current array. You can not however add drives to an exsisting array without starting fresh with all your data and partitions.
