RAID0 trim and SRT seems possible on 6-series and 5-Series

Yesterday I have tested some different Intel RAID ROM versions, which had been modified according Dufus' (aka CPL0) new TRIM modding procedure published in January 2014 (for actual details look >here<).

What is the easiest test currently to verify Trim is working in Raid 0.

The easiest test will be done with the TrimCheck tool (for details look here: http://www.win-raid.com/t24f34-Easy-TRIM-test-methods.html). Only disadvantage: The tool is not able to detect very low TRIM activities.
If the TrimCheck tool should give you the message "TRIM appears to be not working", you should do the manual TRIM test by using an Hex Editor like HxD (see the first link), which is more sensitive regarding low TRIM activity.
Anyway I recommend to trigger TRIM before doing the test. TRIM triggering can be done by running the Win8/8.1 "Optimizer" (former Defrag Tool) or by Anvil's Storage Utilities. You can get this tool here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?273661-Anvil-s-Storage-Utilities

hey so I did the mod but I don't think TRIM is active.

I just replaced the OROM from stock bios with a modified one?

Should I have deleted it then inserted the new one instead?

*Update*

So I figured I would try updating my RST drivers to the newest version 12.9

Then rebooted machine and ran the Trim tool test again.

Then Ran the anvil trim

then reran the Trim Tool test and now Success!

Yes, well out of all the drivers you could have used from 11.x upwards, the 12.5 you were initially using is the one that has a bug with broken trim. Even if you were using Z77 upwards trim would still not work with the 12.5 driver.

I found out about this issue after I already updated it when I was browsing through the win raid forum

The wait for the fix was nothing.

Alteast there is a fix, you guys:thumbsup: did for us what intel didn't and you are to be commended for it. There is no way this should have been restricted to the newest chipsets when it works perfectly just for them to sell more boards.

Been running two ssd's in raid 0 for a long time and a bit of TRIM would probably help them quite a bit now .

Why don't you do it yourself?
The BIOS modification is very easy by using the UBU tool (look >here<). The tool offers different TRIM in RAID0 modded Intel RAID ROM versions.

I think this is all very fine and nice -- getting TRIM in a RAID0 of SSDs.

But given the other options using AHCI mode with SATA-III SSDs, I'm inclined to think that the difference between a cached SSD in AHCI and a dual-SSD in RAID is like the difference between the speed of a high-caliber magnum bullet or Alpha particle and a Photon.

No doubt I'd mod my BIOS if I needed to, and this thread with the links it contains is a good resource . .
