raidmax psu

Has anyone used a Raidmax psu? I just put together a system with a raidmax 400W on an Iwill xp333r mobo and the POST is beeping like there is a power supply problem. The psu runs, and I have checked all the connections several times.

I have been looking around for any documentation on raidmax psu's, but can't find anything but vendors.

I admit I'm a n00b at putting systems together...so I may have a connection wrong somewhere...but this is getting annoying.

Hello there...and welcome to the forum! Know how you feel, just got out of the Jr. Member stage myself, but this is honestly the BEST on the web for getting advice and help without going the "official" tech-support route. Anyways...

I run the Raidmax 400 watt psu myself, and have gotten AWESOME performance out of it. Admittedly, the best way to tell if your psu is working well is that you don't even notice the thing. My Raidmax is powering an AMD Athlon 2000 XP, Soyo DRAGON Plus m/b, a RAID setup, a total of 5 fans, two optical drives, internal lights...you get the drift. And it's been rock-solid. So, would hazard to guess that it is most likely something with the m/b...perhaps a improper power connection or maybe a loose board or memory chip?

I bought my psu (along with my case) from a-pro.com, and from what they've told me, the Raidmax's tend to be just as realiable and consistant as the Enermax's...they're just not as quiet (or expensive).

I also just bought a case and raidmax 320w PSU from A-Pro. No problems with the unit at all and it is quieter than my old PC Power and Cooling 300w.

Double check all your power, cable, mem and card connections, something may not be seated correctly. Re-check jumper/dipswitch settings on your motherboard. Good luck, and let us know what you find!

I was also leaning towards jumper settings on your mobo. Do you have the manual for the mobo?

Thanks, everyone. It turns out I'm just stupid. The beep code was for memory problem rather than psu problem (reading is fundamental and all).

It is up and runnning now. Thx again .

i jus bought this case today too wit the 400W psu. was gonna ask everyone if raidmax is any good, but this thread answers it. thanks!~

The RaidMax power supply with the front fan is not an AMD approved design. AMD approved PS design is with a fan or opening on the bottom and the rear, not like the RaidMax with the fan in the front and the rear. There is a picture on the AMD spec sheet explaining their "proper" airflow design. I think a rear case fan with a high enough CFM rating might help to make the case airflow more in line with AMD specs.

I just got my riddmax as well and was a little woried if they were any good but it seems I made a good choice after all
