Rainbow 6: Vegas XBox 360° Freezing?

Just got my XBox 360° from Microcenter a few weeks back when they started that $100 dollars off deal. Been playing NBA 2K7 (awesome game) for a few weeks, then decided to buy Rainbow 6: Vegas today after seeing the commercial a few times and reading a few reviews on it. Went to Best Buy, paid $60 bucks + tax, opened it up and popped it in the 360. First load freezes. Restarted the XBox, then played a few minutes, then the game froze again. Played it a few more times later on tonight and it freezes within 10 minutes or less. Anyone else having this problem? I've read alot of people having this problem on the Rainbow 6 forum. Gonna go back to Best Buy and return this game...

I've had the problem a few times, but nothing major. Actually it's been a while since it happened.... definitely not enough to return it over. Love the game

Whatever you do, don't buy splinter cell. that game freezes up a heck of a lot.

Console games freezing... yeah... this is MUCH better than PC gaming...

it seems that freezing often has something to do with online connection.

Nope, but I did have Samurai Warriors 2 freeze on me the other day... first freeze I've had in quite awhile (the only other one being Enchanted Arms). Oddly enough, all I had to do was eject the disc and everything was fine after that.

Oh and I've had PC games freeze . I've actually been having a weird issue lately with my computer completely locking up while playing a game and playing a video. This was never a problem with my last computer and my new computer's even more powerful than that one... I donno, I blame it on Intel and Gigabyte... god knows why I keep buying Gigabyte and their crummy products. Had nothing but bad luck with each one.

I played through the entire game without one freeze.

Then you are lucky, but however like biostud said, it was mostly while playing multiplayer. didn't have too much trouble with single player either..

Is Rainbow 6 the only game that freezes your Xbox? I've had my xbox since April and had zero issues with it, but ever since I got Gears of War and downloaded the fall dashboard update, my console freezes within 10 minutes as well. At first I thought it was just the game, but even messing around the dashboard without being connected to xbox live, my console freezes. I've tried everything I could think of to fix it, remove the hard drive, format the hard drive, etc, but my xbox still freezes. I called tech support and now have to pay 140 bucks to fix it, which really sucks. Anyway, since you just bought the system, at the very least you should have the 90 day warranty through Microsoft. See if you can exchange the console where you bought it though, that would be the easiest way to get a working xbox.

I'd even recommend getting the 1 year service contract for $30 bucks if anything. Though a best buy/circuit cirty warranty would be better because you could just return it and get a new one right away.

I purchased the 1 year extended warranty at Microcenter...maybe I should get the 2 year extended instead!

I don't think the freezing has to do with being online because I don't have an XBox Live subscription. Just exchanged the game today at BB and guess what? First thing it did was freeze! Fawk...on the RB6 forums, alot of people are complaining about freezes...bleh

This time, I opened the game in front of the Exchange clerk and examined the disc to make sure no blemishes or scratches or anything wrong (first disc had nothing wrong either), but it was because he said there's alot of problems with warping or blemishes on games because of the storage...

I've not had any problems with the game freezing, and I've put probably 15 hours into the game so far, online and off. Only once did I get the "disc not readable" error while online, but that's a common problem had by many..

Dznuts007: Smart move getting the extended warranty. I wished I had done the same, but got the 360 as a gift and didn't think to do so. I would definitely exchange your 360.

Ok...been playing the Terrorist hunt for 30 min so far and no crashes...maybe it was the disc.

mine freezes once in a while... my issue is def from my online connection.. if your connection drops, everything is frozen.. but if you wait a good 3-4 mins to return you to the main menu.. if you dont want to wait.. you can turn it off/on

Wow...actually...after being able to play the game for more than 10 minutes before it freezes, I've found that this is a pretty kickass game. Especially the co-op missions. A friend and I played it for hours last night.
