No.
I think if you turn off HDR and you might be able to force AA in the driver.
Or if you have an 8800GTS/X that may be you can use nHancer to do a HDR+AA compatibility mode and then try AA+HDR.

Who really knows?
When I get my 8800GTS in a week from Monday I'll let ya know

Well, I was able to buy the game, but I had a Grand Adventure that could've been a video game itself just trying to get it! I went to Wal-Mart trying to get some soda as the M-Dew stock was runnin' on E! I checked to see if they had R6V... nope, they had stuff like Dark Messiah and NWN2. So, I went up to Circuit City and Target (both being in the same strip mall). Circuit City... nope, although there was a fine lady sorting the video games . Can't forget dem fine ladies! So, I walked over to Target, and perused their video game section. They even had that stupid Left Behind video game, but they didn't have Rainbow Six Vegas. So now, I knew the mall had it, but the mall (where EB Games and Gamestop both are) was kinda far away and people suck at driving and drive mucho slow.

But I had to get the game! So I headed up to the mall to find it incredibly packed with cars near EB Games, so I had to park near Gamestop. Well, Gamestop is kinda small, and there were waaaaay too many people in there and the game wasn't on the shelf, so I didn't want to wait to ask if they had it. Supposedly they also had PS3s and I saw some moron buying one. What a waste of $900 some dollars (how much I heard him spend :Q). So I walked down to EB Games (way too much walking for one nerd already). Well, EB Games wasn't crowded and they had it, so I picked it up for 50 smackers.

Have yet to actually install it because I'm playing WoW .

I got one today at best buy. Dont remember when was a last time I spend 50$ on game, but after putting good 5 hours playing it, no regrets.
I loved GRAW though, but at least in rainbow six you dont die every 15 seconds.
It runs decent on my rig. AMD64 3400 1GB ram 6800gt, everything on, shadows low. I had to reduce resolution to 1024x728 to get smooth frame rate. There is no WS support.

So far the story is fairly interesting, and it has a different feel than prevoius R6 games, like raven shield. Its almost like you are playing FPS than tactical shooter. Graphics are ok,similiar to GRAW but somewhat washed out and less clear.

I'm glad that finally some decent games for the PC are coming out, I came realy close to getting the xbox360, so R6 and Medival 2 and 1701AD should keep me occupide for a while.

I live in North East PA, so I pretty much shop in southern-tier NY (Binghamton, Johnson City, Vestal, etc). Now it's good to note that they SAID they had them, but I don't trust that Gamestop very much. A guy was supposedly buying one, but I didn't actually see a PS3 (they may've done something different with it to avoid it being stolen).

Ugh you've gotta be kidding, there's no Widescreen? Damnit, I already opened the game too... I have two Samsung Syncmaster 205bw's .

Playing at 1920x1200 with 7900GTX SLI, X2 4400, 2GB ram. Playable with everything set to high but shadow setting has a noticable difference if set to medium. Not nearly as smooth as the Xbox 360 version.

Using the same SLI profile as GRAW but haven't noticed a huge difference.

Very crisp textures and controls are well done with correct on-screen prompts if you have hints enabled. Aliasing is still evident due to HDR (don't know about whether AA can be enabled with the 8800 series)

Gameplay is identical to the 360 version. Definitely less frustrating than GRAW since you can recover health behind cover.

Anyone played it yet with a 1900xtx? Will I have to turn off AA/ AF to play it like SCDA?

I just got done playing an hour or so... AWESOME!!! I love that it supports the xbox 360 controller!!! First time I ever gave up a mouse for a game like this and it really isn't that bad after you get over the initial couple of minutes of weird conrols (IT JUST FEELS SO SLOW AT FIRST TO AIM W/O A MOUSE!!!) After I got used to it though it is a lot of fun. x1900 GT, 2gb of ram, e6300 and it is running pretty good (1280x1024 > Native LCD resolution). I would imagine not as good as the 360 though because frame rate is a tad slow. I have GRAW as well on PC and I like Vegas better.

Just got this, and am on the first Vegas level, so here are some first impressions. All I can so is, wow, wtf have they done.

It's not bad, but this is definately not Rainbow. Not sure how it works on Realistic, but people don't go down that easy, and the machine guns stink. There's a lot more run and gun. Also, what is with the blur? I'm not talking about the movement, getting hit blur, it's the smudgy whole screen effect 24/7. I only see things like that when I rub my eyes really hard, don't tell me it's to simulate the goggles... Currently, not very happy as I suck, and can't make it far on the Strip, but that's probably cause I was rushing (run+gun) to get out for the Boxing Day sales starting tonight. See how it goes tomorrow...

Is it just me or are these graphics overrated? I played the Vegas demo on my Xbox 360 and it looked like crap (ok, exageration). I didn't think it looked that great at all. I have seen many other games on the 360 that look much better (Gears of War for one thing)..

But even so, I havn't played it for the PC, but if it looks anything like the Xbox version, then I can only see this as a crappy port. The game doesn't look THAT good to justify a POS framerate that all these high end PC users are reporting.

Prey looked absolutely stunning on the Xbox 360 and it ran perfectly smooth and BOTH the Xbox and PC (great port). Quake 4 didn't fair so well in the port (it is choppy in some parts of the game on the 360).

Anyway, not to sidetrack the thread, I guess I was just curious more than anything as to whether other people agreed with me or not, or perhaps I am missing something on the graphics that I should take note of...

Must agree. Graphics are 'meh'. Oblivion set the bar, and I haven't seen anything better yet. GRAW was very nice and better, QUake 4 was beautiful, Vegas to be truthful, looks like ass thanks to the smear effect. Textures aren't that good either, this is definately just a port. The Doom 3 engine was a lot nicer, although I didn't think Prey was all that good. They probably (definately) dumbed it down for the Xbox...mofos... My first impression was "are they using some old engine?". Then I find out this is the NEW Unreal Engine, and could not have been more shocked. Not to mention the crap resolution support: they're all 4:3 (not sure about the 1152 or something one).

OK....My rig is built and I have played the game for about an hour.

1024X768 motion blur on medium.....I can not tell a difference from high...also this makes the game fun, when you can't see very good if you get hit....makes you not want to get hit.

Shadows on medium.....everything else on high....I get great smooth gameplay so far even though it only 1024X768...i hope a patch lets me up the resolution alittle, and also allow my video card to use AA

Well I've played it for about 1.5 hours and I'm pretty happy with it.

First off, given my rig in sig (Opty 146 @ ~2.4ghz, 1.5GB PC3200, 7800GT @ 460/1150), I have to turn the graphics way down, and it looks like a game at least a few years old. After seeing the Unreal Engine screen, I figured it would scale a lot better, or at least look decent given how low of fps I get. 1024x768, mid to low details. Gah, and no WS support (1280x800 would be possibly do-able framerate wise). So that is very disappointing, considering that my rig is fairly decent... certainly better than most PC gamers. Sucks that it requires such high-end systems, and a SM3 card, because surely they can't expect much sales at all given they left out a huge % of PC gamers (or even worse, people who buy it but can't play it, and can't return PC games).

I am still in the first level. It is quite long, fairly hard even on normal, and checkpoints are far away. I am on the mission where I am about to enter the mines and take that tango alive. So I don't know how the framerate and graphics are once you get to Vegas, but I'd imagine it won't run any better. I mean come on, I got a decent rig, have to run at very low/crap settings, yet I'm stuck with somewhat low fps at times and pretty bad graphics. GRAW was similar in this aspect though... just not very optimized games IMO. Considering games a couple of years old (Source, BF2, Guild Wars) that run maxxed, look spectacular, and run on lower-end rigs just fine.

Anyway, I think the gameplay is good. It's not too tactical, which turns off a lot of people. I am playing quite tactical and very slow though, which I like doing. I haven't played much RB6 Raven Shield nor Lockdown ever, but I should probably give those a try sometime later, and compare to Vegas to see how much tactical play I like most.

Weapon selection is nice. Cover is done well. Teammate AI is pretty decent, though I generally leave them a little behind since they have a easier chance of dieing (game over) than I do. Enemy AI is decent. Some bad parts, but overall I like it. Different enemy placement is nice, as well as basic covering, flanking, etc.

Squad control is quite easy and effective. Love scoping out rooms with the snake cam, placing my guys at the door, then we rush in at separate doors at the same time.

So, lots of people didn't like the game, but I think it's pretty damn good, and definitely worth it, IF you have the rig to run it. And would like a somewhat tactical (you can run and gun, or take it slower and be more tactical) FPS. Will probably update my opinion once I get another level or two into the game, but it's pretty positive right now. Have not yet tried multiplayer.

edit: I have a 360 controller for my PC, and seen it had native/built-in support, but in a somewhat tactical game like this, even if I spent time using the 360 pad, I bet there's no way in hell I could shoot and move anywhere near as well as kb+mouse which I have a ridiculous amount of years/hours playing PC games.

Are you playing realistic? Team mates can be revived after going down in normal. They make great cannon fodder. As for weapon selection, it's not bad, but the machine guns stink compared to the subs. Just like in all R6 and most tactical games though, the submachine guns work the best (love the P90). The gun play is fun, but suffers the same problem as all other fps games: run and gun, but without the new uber weapons every so often. R63 and prior, it's usually shoot first or die, so more focus is on the tactical element, which rarely repeats.

Performance wise, my A64 3200+ stock, 1Gb ram and 7600gt run it smooth with low shadows, 1024x768 and no hardware skinning. Vegas is more vibrant, but I didn't notice much of a performance difference.

About staying alive, the lean/cover is your best friend. Then again, I'm impatient so I usually run and gun. However, the cover system is very useful for not getting hit and picking people off. Oh, and just try out the shield. If you want to know how god feels like, just walk around with it raised all the time. I only tried it once when I finished the campaign.

Nope I'm only playing Normal. I thought when a teammate died that the game was over. Because I was playing with a team and we were taking fire, then it was over and said "Gabriel has died", who I assumed was one of my teammates, but maybe it wasn't... I'll see about the reviving.

Haven't tried the machine guns, but yeah I don't expect them to be that useful since I usually need 1-3 shot accurate shots with a rifle or SMG. Gotta try out that P90 though.

Hmph, maybe I should mess with my details more... should be getting better performance. I'm using v1.02.

Going to try out Raven Shield (think my bro has this) and I'll get the Lockdown demo (heard this was pretty disappointing R6 game though) in the next couple of weeks. But for now, it's back to Mexico so I can get to Vegas!!
