What's up with the performance of this game? I'm getting low teen FPS half the time playing. That's with an overclocked C2D (3.60GHz) and a 8800 GTX @1920x1200. I mean, I know my resolution is high but the visuals are far and away from what could be justified by such low FPS.

I understand this game is ported from console, but this kind of performance is absolutely unacceptable regardless how great the game play is. (I mean, how can you have fun while playing a slideshow?) What were they thinking? I can't help but disappointed by Ubi Soft. Once in the past, I used to think this company would be, along with Blizzard and id Software, a hope for PC gaming. But in recent years, this company has become a total money hog. Obnoxious copy protections, horrendous ports, and general lack of quality (read: bug-fest). I think this will be the last game I'm purchasing from this company. :|

As good as Vegas is and as much as i enjoyed it on the 360 i still think the amount of bugs it has are unacceptable. Console games should not contain bugs that hinder the game play. The difficulty reset glitch is a good example of this. And online play is broken. Not even dared to try the PC version. I dont even think they should be allowed to release a game that does not run at least 30FPS on the minimum specs.

Yeah, my friend's computer with an X1950Pro gets a very, very small increase turning the graphics from max - medium - lowest. Maybe 2 fps on each change. Max graphics at 1280x960 runs at about a constant 17 fps, medium ~20, lowest ~22. Ridiculous.

Did they even bother to code the game to be rendered in hardware on PCs? Doesn't sound like it.

Thanks for the heads up, as I loved this on the 360, and was wanting to try it on the PC for the superior controls.

After what. 3 months after release? Thats ludicrous. We'll i hope they nail the bugs in the 360 version. I am yet to finnish it on realistic, doing each scene in one sitting is more work than its worth.

Sounds like another GRAW ill-fated release for PC gaming, another rip-off from UbiSoft. Great on 360 but just miserable on PC. Made my mistake with GRAW but I'm glad I've chosen to stay with 360 and away from PC on this game.

I really, really enjoyed GRAW on the PC. It was a different game after all and not a lousy port. Once it was up and running properly its a real treat to play.

Seems like its a totally botched port. Which is a shame, since it would be nice to at least have some idea how the UT3 engine performs on different kinds of hardware.

How can you like that game? To me the enemy AI was like a retarded god...always knew where you were but somehow still made stupid mistakes. My favourite encounters with the baddies was when I was sneaking and their back is turned to me. Out of the blue, they turn around 180* and the first shot lands on me and in a couple of secs I'm dead... frustratingly unrealistic.

On topix, yes this game gives me horrid performance... It doesn't support multi-gpu as far as I know so you have it better than a lot of us, lopri

I recently beat the PC version and I never ran into a single glitch throughout the entire single player campaign.

I was running it under vista, with an 8800GTX, and (at the time) beta nvidia drivers.

This has become the standard course of affairs with PC gaming at large, but Ubi is the biggest offender these days. They're much worse than even EA. GRAW's performance is relatively okay compared to some of their other console ports like SCDA and R6 Vegas, which run like complete garbage even at low resolutions. Interestingly, the 360 versions of SCDA and R6V perform just as badly from what I've seen, with the framerate dropping below 20 on a regular basis.

SCDA actually looks like an excellent game, but the state of its graphics engine makes the game next to worthless in my opinion (and there is also the intrusive Securom 7 copy protection to deal with). It's a real pity, as the last SC game was the best game I've played in the last five or six years. Maybe I'll try it again three years from now, when video cards have caught up.

Believe me the game had me swearing and punching the wall but overall i found the game satisfying. The weapons, SCAR-L in particular had a weighty feel to them. The physics; shooting the crap out of cars and trucks. Some of the best explosions I've seen in a game. The lighting effects on the stone and glass looked very realistic. The city scape spanned for miles. All created a deep immersive atmosphere.

I didn't have much of a problem with the enemy AI, it was the friendly AI that was the problem for me. I could have finished the game allot quicker and easier if i didn't have to babysit these morons all the time. I would be surprised if they had even tested it because to me it felt really broken. The bloated engine with the high system requirements did not help either but luckily at the time my PC was considered high end enough to handle the game how i liked it at the big res i play on.

Nothings perfect but i do think they could have tied up some loose ends rather than releasing it how they did. But thinking back and considering how tragic PC gaming has become at these times, it was a very good effort.

Mine on WinXP stays above 30fps and mostly near 60fps (with max details at 1280x1024)at all times with my OCed GTS. I did notice that without the latest patches it would slow down for some reason. I think I'm limited to 60fps because I keep vertical sync on.

XBOX 360 FTW!

Let me know when Crysis is out so I can return to PC gaming.

Surprisingly (?) it runs on high very smoothly on my A64 3200+ and 7600gt. However, IIRC, turning on shadows butchers the frame rate, so just factor in the craptastic porting and turn it down a bit. Ya, it's painful having spent so much on your rig, but life sucks.

That game had better not be a disappointment, or I might just have to give up on PC gaming. Lately I've had more fun trying to get my old classic games to work than playing the newer games. I'm starting to think that paying $600 for a video card in order to be able to play 2-3 games per year in their full glory just isn't worth it. No one needs an E6600 and 8800GTX to surf the web and use Office. If they keep making shoddy games that need a Cray to run properly I'll likely just get a Wii or PS3 to keep my 360 company and just stick with a midrange PC and a nice big monitor that'll make sending email more pleasurable.

It's a great game on the PC platform.

I have not had a single crash or anomaly (haha, i am so much waiting for STALKER to be released , and i have greatly enjoyed this excellent game.

I have to admit though, that my P4@3.3GHz with 6800 Ultra cold not handle this game at any resolution/detail setting even after trying out a 1950 Pro AGP from a friend.

So i did my overdue hardware upgrade and with my new C2D@3.3GHz and a 8800GTS@650/1000 the game ran in the 30-60 fps range most of the time (1600x1200 maximum detail) and sometimes went to 20 for short periods.

After all graphics are great on a high end system, though i have to admit that the game sucked a$$ on my P4/6800 and the 1950 Pro didn't help either.

Overall i am satisifed...and i can play about any other game on 1600x1200 max with high AF/AA and still get 60 or much more fps

Yeah, sadly. I've been looking into getting a 1080p set and a 360 for the summer. PC gaming just moves too slow for me right now...

However, anyone who wants to try out a good game for PC coming out soon, then Command and Conquer 3's demo is up on fileplanet and gamespot right now.

I was very disapointed with the performance in this game.. I first played using my 7950GX2 which was a waste of time as Vegas lack's SLI / Crossfire support ..

I recently purchased a factory over clocked 8800GTS (570/1800) and thought right here we go .. *wrong* Same as others , FPS between 35 - 60 with settings set to max .. The game just does not feel smooth at all ..

Not much fun ... ! :|

I gained a lot of performance after lowering shadow quality actually. High quality shadow doesn't really add much to the visuals but cut the performance to 1/3.. Ugh. At least it's now much playable but my assessment on this game is still the same. I also get alerted by my firewall when I launch/play the game and the .exe doesn't even contain anything remotely implying 'Rainbow Six Vegas'. Really disappointing. System breaking copy protection, Spyware, In-game ads..

If your vsync is on (and your monitor's refresh rate is 60Hz) then it won't go above 60fps (I think). I have the GTS also and it never goes above 60fps in Vegas because vsync is on.

It's playable, but anything is playable if you're used to it. It certainly isn't smooth though. Although the graphics are good, they don't warrant this kind of performance at all.
