Hahaha let the fun begin.

We got about 10 inches give or take here the other day. Half decent snow fall but nothing too crazy. 4 is not really much, that's like 10cm. Just drive a bit more carefully is all, since it gets a bit drifty and easy to slide or lose control. IMO I find it's kind of fun to drive in. But I have front wheel drive which is much easier in snow.

It's Saturday. People are relaxing inside and not driving anywhere. Not a single car has moved in the neighborhood.

Sorry to hear that Red, but that is nothing compared to what Buffalo, NY got from Lake Effect snow.

yeah, snow squalls are a bitch.

We've been lucky so far here. It's been pretty damn cold here for the last few days but at least we're not getting serious snow.

It is supposed to be bitter cold, low teens here, until at least Monday or Tuesday

Yeah Buffalo actually did get a huge amount last year, was it like 2 metres or something like that? I don't think I've ever seen that much snow here in one shot. We usually get a foot or two overnight at most. It was also not really a huge panic in Buffalo, they handled it pretty decently.

Oddly it seems the south gets more snow than we do now days. The snow fall we had was probably our first decent one.

How are our southern brothers doing?

Getting a bit more here in NorthEast Jersey than expected. All is well and normal.

Yes, I saw that on your NJ traffic cameras, but could not tell how much you got. What town or road in Northeast NJ are you at ? I used to live in Wayne and came to Apex, NC in Jan 2017 .. It seems it was worse closer to the shore area. Roads, at least the main ones, shown on the cameras, seemed to be perfectly passable. Maryland and Delaware have about 6 inches or so and roads were messy, but somewhat passable.

That's funny. I grew up in Wayne from when I was just a couple years old. Currently in Jersey City - for this snowfall we are predicted to get more snow than west of us. Probably by now we have 2 + something inches. Routine stuff. The Carolinas getting any significant snow?

Less than an inch here in Apex, NC (near RT55 / 64 / 1) but some of the more northern parts of the state did get more.

Overall, a nice town. But the Passaic county property taxes were a killer. My home was over 16K when I left (3,200 sq ft on 1/3 acre)

Wanted to get out of the house today, so took the dog for a walk around the neighborhood. Lots of kids playing in the ....uhhhh....roughly 1" of snow here (Holly Springs). But, hey, they were having a blast sliding down their driveways or sidestreets. The ice is what really sucks. Took me a while to get the car door open because of the ice layer effectively freezing it shut.

As a Northeasterner I am ashamed of my brothers in Connecticut. They had a 20+ car pileup. In this little average storm 5-6" is nothing for us.

Why did you have to go and fail like this Connecticut? Why?

Shoveling snow is all the exercise I've gotten the last month, been very busy. Snowed a foot today, expecting snow every day next week.

I'm about 40 miles north of Atlanta. The forecast went from 1-3" (Wednesday) to 3-5" (Thursday) to 5-8" (Friday afternoon), then back to 1-3" (Friday evening).

We got about an inch and a half. It was enough to do a little bit of sledding but a lot of it was gone by Saturday afternoon

We got a dusting here in Saint Louis. We're supposed to get several inches of ice pellets next week, whatever the hell that means.

That probably means an ice storm is coming. Be prepared for possible power outages if that does occur.

Speaking of power outages, we RARELY get them here in the north considering we can get all sorts of weird weather from regular snow, wet snow, or ice, sometimes all at the same time. We get the odd ones in summer from thunderstorms and such but I've seen some of the craziest winter storms and it never takes out the power. We did get a huge one that affected like 5k customers a few months back but it was because of a transport truck mishap. Whoops!

Then there's Quebec. Just a bit of snow (and they get a lot of snow) and the power is out everywhere. lol. I've done lot of OT because of that. We monitor lot of equipment there so if power is out we get super busy dispatching techs with generators etc.

I really should invest in a power backup source though.... just because I've yet to see a big winter outage does not mean it will never happen. We had a planned one for 4 hours once, and it was getting pretty cold in the house. My servers were not quite enough to heat the house. In a real emergency suppose I could shut down all the servers and power the furnace off the UPS. I don't think AC motors like square wave though.
