Nader is tilting at windmills. The people who vote for Ralph might as well vote for Bush because their vote will have the same effect. This election is about two people only-Bush and Gore (I'm not counting the American people, 'cause we don't count). Gore would win handily if Nader stepped aside and threw his support to Gore. Of course, Nader probably hates Gore more than he hates Bush, so that will never happen.
I'd vote for Nader if he didn't have his head up is butt about NAFTA, abortion, and genetically engineered foods (what a crock!). At least he's honest, and he's no fool. But, like Buchanan, he has no chance. Thank God Buchanan is done, by the way. I suspect his shallow support intimates that far right wing populism is moribund, at least for now.
Why throw your vote away? You may have a clear conscience, but when Bush is in the White House and the economy goes into the dumper from trickle down economics or some other hair-brained Republican economic theory du jour, then you will be rueing your vote.
I admire people who have ideals, but politics is all about compromise and being willing to accept half a loaf rather than no loaf at all. Elect Gore and you'll have half a loaf. Elect Bush and your loaf will be given to the oil barons, insurance tycoons, NRA, drug companies, and all the other Daddy Warbucks morons in the Republican Party.
