I believe I heard on meet the press that, only one out of six or seven Nader voters would otherwise vote for Bush. The rest were for that other guy

Ralph Nader. In a way he's like Perot: tells it like it is and is willing to take hits for being honest. But unlike Perot, Nader doesn't come out and tell you his policies will drive the cost of nearly everything up. He'll fight to stop loggin in certain areas; home housing costs rise. He'll fight for higher fuel efficiency; car prices rise. Nader will point out public transportation systems need a rebuild; tax must go up to pay for this.

I agree with Nader on many points (far more than I realized). Perhaps our true standard of living, happiness, will shoot through the roof if he's elected. Americans didn't like Perot when he said he'd raise taxes initially to fix "the problem". Most will not voter for Nader. I'm actually giving the greenies a hard look though.

In all fairness, though, I'm glad he takes votes away from Gore in the same way I'm glad the other reform parties take votes away from Bush. Pretty soon we'll have a viable third option and politicians from chess9- and tripleshot?s era who have raped this country in the name of helping it, will be tossed aside.

<< The people who vote for Ralph might as well vote for Bush because their vote will have the same effect. >>

Actually JellyBaby, I believe one of Nader's ideas is a maximum wage. Something like $100K/year. There would also be an incredibly high minimum wage, several times what it is now. That in itself would destroy industry, and while it would certainly put everyone on a more equal standard of living, that standard of living would be more like a poor African nation than what we've come to know.

I don't have exact info right now, but if you're interested I could track down my sources on this stuff.

Despite the far left's gripe about "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer", the poor in this country (except for the truly destitute, which is a minute percentage) live better than the majority of the people on this planet. They should be thankful they're poor in the US rather then bitch about what they don't have.

JellyBaby:

I agree about the politicians from my era raping the planet. We have utterly failed to address environmental issues. At the rate we're going States will be buying plastic trees from Northern New Jersey and we'll all be marvelling at the bass in the local museums. Let Cheney in Alaska and he'll turn it into an oilman's paradise, and you can probably kiss hundreds of species goodbye. We are destroying plant and animal species at an alarming rate, and little is being done about it.

Come to think of it, maybe I'd better hit the lake down the street before it's too late. Today could be my last day to catch a 15 pound bass!

Quoting you Red:

<< They should thank the stars they have that roach infested slum to live in and just STFU! >>

Are you saying by this that I should give more of my hard earned money to put those people in better living conditions? As far as I'm concerned there's little difference between forcing me through taxation to give my money to the poor and letting them live in my house. Both disgust me.

Edit: Or perhaps you were being serious when you said that? If you were serious, please forgive me. It's so rare to see you like that that it caught me off guard. LOL!

Go Ralph... That's funny, I didn't hear the Dems saying how "unfair" this was when Buchanan was taking votes away from Republicans.

If you listen to Ralph, you realize that communism is alive and well in some people's minds. Ralph basically wants to see the government control everything so it can run everything efficiently. Ugh.....

I actually like Ralph Nader. But the Green Party sux!

Like I wrote earlier, his main goal is to win back Democratic control of the House.

Those voters that go to the polls (that would have not voted) and vote for either Gore or Nader (most will vote for Gore) will almost certainly all vote for Democratic House candidates.

<< I do believe in giving those truly sincere an opportunity to better themselves and free themselves from the form of slavery known as welfare. >>

Excellent, Red, than I assume you'll be voting a Republican ticket. It sure as hell will never happen if the democrats are in charge. They created it, maintain it, and have no intention of giving up the power it provides them to control the lives of the people who are stuck in that "slavery".

Don't tempt him with that evil bait. Besides, Red has small problem with a fella by the name of Shrub.

Bravo! And with all that said,we are still faced with the constitutional mess of being forced to vote in one of the two symbiotic twins to replace long dong. Too bad we cant just have him stay 4 more. He can't hurt us anymore than what he has,and the congressional rats can't get to him either.

Now we have to choose which of the two poisons we prefer to take and then hope a cure will come along by way of Arizona in time to save us from the harm we are sure to come by in the next 4.

I will choose to stay with the status quo. I know it has not hurt me.In fact, the economy has been very good to me and I am not anxious to have it mucked up by some experiment via the political machinery behind Shrub.

On issues such as abortion, the choosing of supreme court justices, doing something about high fuel prices and protecting the envirnment by using the veto when necessary,I will cast my vote for the more experienced and taller Al Gore, and I shall forgive him his embellishments and exagerations he has made to make his point from time to time. In fact,I think he may have been lurking in these forums to get hints on embellishments and exagerations, because we, collectively, have been able to create quite a few of our own, from both sides of the debate.

To bad my vote won't count. I live in Utah.

Hey BoberFett, I believe you are talking out of your ass. The US is the most impoverished country in the western world (you can research this yourself). The US has the sharpest wealth disparity of any western nation. the wealth of the top 1% is greater than that of the bottom 90% of Americans.
