RAM 101?

Can somebody tell me what is the most important ram specs? Or provide some links?

I only know what different speeds and latency means, but voltages and other stuff are very foreign to me, so please help me fill in the blanks!

I order my stuff from Germany, so there are different brands and prices from the US, so I guess I need to learn about the specs so I can pick the right ram, instead of just asking what to buy ( I assume most of you are Americans)

E.g. the ram I´m eyeing is MDT and it has 1.8v....is that good or bad....or doesn´t it matter? Has anyone experience from this brand? (it is one of the cheapest in Germany)

I depends on if you plan on overclocking.

It doesnt matter what voltage your ram runs at. It does not make it faster or slower if the voltage is different.

Generally the lower the voltage, the less heat is produced. And lower voltage also means you can bump it up to make your overclock more stable.

But if some DDR400 ram is 2.3 volts and another is 2.2, I would generally suggest buying the 2.2 because it means the ram works with only 2.2, and you can probably feed it 2.3 to overclock it better.
