RAM and the 8KNXP

Hi guys,

Just bought a Gigabyte 8KNXP mobo. I've also ordered 2 gigs (4 512 Mb sticks of Crucial PC3700 DDR RAM). The problem I'm having lies in the fact that apparently I can only run Dual DDR (800 Mhz FSB) with two sided RAM chips in two of the memory slots. The other four apparently only support dual DDr with single sided RAM chips. I think that this means that I will only be able to run 1GB of my RAM if I want Dual DDR capability. Does anyone know if there is any way around this or will I just have to make do for the time being... Also, it would be helpful if anyone knows where I can find single sided PC3700 RAM (preferably 512 meg modules although I realize its unlikely )

I am using 4 512 MB sticks of Crucial PC3200 with my 8KNXP without any problems. As long as your sticks are in slots 1,2,4, and 5 (where 1 and 4 are pairs, and 2 and 5 are pairs), you can run dual channel.

I think daniel is right. Its only when you are using all 6 slots that the double sided issue becomes really a problem. You should be able to run the 4 you have in the configuration daniel stated IIRC. Look at your manual it shows you the organization of what you can and can't do with the amount of slots you are using and mode.

I think you guys are right, I just checked the manual(I should do that more often) and the table says that I can run up to four double sided modules in dual ddr. Thanks for you help!
