RAM frequency

Hello

I recently bought ASUS X551CA notebook witch have 4GB ram 1600MHz ... at least it should have.
But when I run windows index test, my RAM was graded with 5,9 only. Somehow that seems bad, because my desktop PC have 8GB RAM also on 1600MHz and it's rated with 7,9 on windows7. My notebook have W8.

So I was curious, and I downloaded "Speecy" program, which showed me, that my RAM is working on 798MHz only -.-

When I go to BIOS, I can't change any values of that.

Any ideas?

Well I also installed CPU-Z with which I'm familiar (used it before).

However, I got same report. RAM working on 798MHz and not 1600MHz as promissed.

And right now it shows, that I have only 3,5GB avalible, but that's because I forgot to change setting for my graphic card

So is there anything I can do to increase that 798MHz to 1600 ?

The "1600" RAM is running at 800 MHz. The 1600 is the "effective data rate", given that data is transmitted on both the rising clock flank and the descending clock flank. That is why it is called DDR.

Single versus Dual channel setups are probably the source fo the observed discrepancy in scores. With proper interleaving, a dual channel memory controller doubles throughput.

edit: on the SPD tab it should show the currently active JEDEC/XMP profile.

It's already there. 798MHz * 2 (ddr) = 1600MHz
