My RIG:
AMD ATHLON 64 3000 (Venice)
MSI GForce 6100 mobo
512 corsair ram
.if i take 1 gb ram instead of 512 mb than what will be the performance boost in terms of gaming, dailing computing and internet surfing..Also in 1 GB ram can I play 2005-2004 released games (except Farcry,Doom 3 & HL2) in better detail or in better resolution or in better frame rate..
I know that 30 frame rate is engough for fluid game play..30+ frame rate ,will it give more pleasure??
I JUST WANT TO KNOW THAT HOW RAM HELP IN GAMING?
Is a huge ram(1gb) means:
1. increased FRAME RATE
2.better resolution
3.better details

Ram isn't going to increase frame rates, allow an increased resolution, or higher details, thats what the video card is for. Ram helps some with load times. Also, if the game is using more ram than is available, it will start using the page file, which will cause some stuttering and lag.

Yep.

More RAM means you can maintain a high performance for a longer amount of time. I remember when I first started playing Doom3 with a powerful system, but all I had was 512mb of Corsair 2225 RAM. It was smooth for the first 20 mins, then stuttered a ton. I had to reboot every once in a while. So, instead I got more RAM. I was able to play for MUCH longer (about an hour) before it started to slow down.

From what Ive read going from 512>1gig of Ram does give you a little jump in performance. 1gig>2gig doesn't give much of any.

2 gigs is only useful for heavy multitasking and video editing. MAybe photoshop.

Ummm, you shouldn't be worrying about RAM before you upgrade your video. An integrated video solution is not going to benefit hardly at all from having 1gig instead of having 512MB available.

RAM doesn't improve performance directly, only indirectly. Games stutter when you run out of real ram and have to start using the pagefile, having more ram means that it is less likely. Everyone who plays pc games has experienced this - the game runs smoothly for a little bit, but then chokes up when you enter a new area or you get a new weapon or whatever. More RAM will not help with the framerate you get when its running smoothly, but it will reduce the stuttering. When you take benchmarks its usually just the average given, which is often a couple fps higher with more ram, but this is because there are fewer drastic drops to bring down the average, except for these periods of stuttering there will be no change in framerate.

This is why 512MB (lots of paging) to 1GB (very little paging) is a bigger deal than 1GB (very little paging) to 2GB (virtually no paging). FEAR and Battlefield 2 are the most RAM hungry games I've ever played and they both do OK with 1GB, provided you have almost nothing running in the background, the windows install is relatively fresh, and you reboot before playing.

Anyway the point is, if your games stutter a lot, more RAM will help, if your games run at a fairly constant speed, but just not fast enough for your liking, spend your money on a gpu or cpu because the RAM isn't the problem.

more ram won't help your system as much as a video card would. you do need the ram since you are running on IGP and it pulls system memory. get a video card. much more worth it.

i recall reading a review from some game website regarding RAM / advantages to have more
and the conclusion was that you don't need any more than 1 GB or 1.5 GB

at 1 GB you will see noticeable differences vs 512 MB
between 1 GB to 1.5 GB difference is minimal, but after 1.5 GB you'll barely see any difference without and even with a Benchmark tool

FEAR is a LOT less stuttery since I went from 2x512 to 2x1GB. Other than that not much difference.

having more ram keeps your computer from using your pagefile. Even with a better graphics card. 512mb of ram is not even nearly enough to play today's games. You'll be able to play games in higher resolutions and such without STUTTERING. 1gb should be minimum for gaming by today's standards.

Games like Doom3, Painkiller... needs ~380 MB RAM, I think 512 for a today-system is very obsolete, 1 GB is a good choice. Consider to opt for a better video card instead 2 GB RAM.
