ram is posting 120mb

I have some pc-100 ram (128mb) posting as 120mb.Would this indicate defective ram?Not having any problems,but it is not being identified as 128mb only 120mb..................

Are you using a UMA graphics chip? ie. Onboard graphics?

You probably have motherboard shared memory graphics. If you've put in a real video card you might still need to go into the BIOS and disable the onboard video.

128MB - 8MB for shared video = 120MB.

Also consider decimal vs binary math - there could be more memory allocated to video. But you get the idea.

Yeah, onboard graphics wants some RAM for its own use.
