I recently posted here a few days ago asking for some help with my mobo. I placed some new ram in it and after that, my cpu shows up as a 466E. It is a p3 700E. I changed the fsb and multiplier back to a normal 700 but it didnt work still. I went back into the BIOS and tried to overclock it, didnt work. Underclocked it, didnt work. Changed the settings on the Slotket, didnt work, Flashed the Bios with the newest version, and it still doesnt work . I did replace the ram back with my old stick and still no go. any help would be GREATLY appreciated as for some reason when this started my comp keeps crashing every couple of hours. thanks

i'm not sure if you're changing things via jumpers, but if you're not, you might want to try that.

Does it show up in BIOS as a 466?
I that case you might have a ASUS-mobo (maybe?) and if there is something wrong with the settings the BIOS "resets" autmatically and then it shows up like the lowest, in this case 466.

I would try to change the settings for the memory to "auto" or 8ns or whatever it might say in your BIOS...

The mother board is an abit BE6-2. Ive tried setting the settings to user define and putting the mulitplier to 7 and fsb to 100. That didnt work. I tried putting it to 700E default settings (not user define) and that didnt work. Set the jumpers on the slotket (abit alotket) to be 100 fsb and everything else on auto, that did not work. I doubled checked that the slotket was placed on the copppermine mode and not a regular pentium. Someone mentioned a Speed hold error in the BIOS but i was unable to find it. I have seen this before on my friends Kt7a-raid, but it didnt show up anywhere on my mother board BIOS. Thinking it was just due to having an old BIOS, i reflashed it with the newest BIOS from Abit but it still didnt work nor did the Speed error hold show up. thanks to the people that have replied so far.

OK, i reflashed the BIOS again, still didnt work. messed with the memory settings, placed any ram stick i could find in every ram slot but that didnt work. So i messed with the dip switches a little and i got it running at 933 now. i COULD live with this but the BIOS is still bugging me and i would like to get it back to a gig which is what it was running at before all this happened. Does anyone have a BE6-2 1.1 and know of a BIOS with the speed error hold option in it?? if so what version. thanks
