RAM : Quantity VS Quality

Which would be better on an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ , Asus A7N8X Deluxe , PC?

If not overclocking, just stick with PC2700 to run synchronous with the FSB. Of course, PC3200 does give you more future proofing though if you ever upgrade to a 400FSB processor.

For what system? PC2700 would hamstring an 800 FSB P4, but not hurt a 166/333 FSB AMD XP at all.

edit - question makes more sense now you've added your specs. If you plan to keep the XP awhile, the 1 GB will help a lot in some newer games (advanced search, archived threads, "512" for the old "512 vs. 1 GB" threads for examples).

I'd take 1 gig of CAS3 PC3200 over 512MB CAS2 memory.

Assuming the 2500 has a 333mhz fsb, which im sure it does, and assuming the 1gb of corsair pc2700 is two sticks....then the 1gb is definitely the better choice, if run in a dual channel configuration. I dont know what this "Nanye" thing is, however.

If you don't have the AXP @ a 200MHz fsb (400MHz DDR) then go with the Gig.

if you look around you will probibly find that pc2700 near the same price as 3200 so if it was me i would get the 3200, and then if i chose to oc or upgrade my system i dont have to run a divider for the memory

I already have the Nanye Technologies ram stick on this computer. I might sell it and get another corsair though.

It's prob. Nanya Memory (a chipmaker and not Nanye), but in any event 1GB of memory is better than 512mb even if you are running it at PC 2700 speeds (which is normal for a 166mhz FSB AXP 2500+ anyways)
