Hey everyone,

What RAM would be good for me? I will have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (newcastle Core) and I will be overclocking it between nothing at all to 200 Megahertz. The motherboard I will have would be either:

http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8N_Neo_Platinum&class=mb
or
http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket754/k8n-e_d/overview.htm

I have found the below RAM, which one would be the best for me?:

Mushkin:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-288&depa=1

OCZ:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-950&depa=1

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-883&depa=1

Corsair:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-436&depa=1

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-522&depa=1

So I would like to know if PC 3200 is fast enough for a 200 mhrz overclock or if I have to go with PC 3500 RAM. The Mushkin seems the most appealing.

I hope you guys can help.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Also can anyone tell me how theese RAM are rated? Some of them are only 2-2-2 when others are 2-2-5-6-1T or something. I am really confused about this.

Timings are bull... they barely do anything... not worth th e price premium.. get yourself some nice value sticks

I'm considering similar sticks from Corsair. I like that thick black heat spreader; don't care about the lights though. I know you can get Corsair XMS for $100 cheaper and clock it at the same timmings at the xtra low latency stuff.

I'm not usually a "use the search" Nazi, but honestly there have to be at least 2-3 threads a day that pop up asking almost this exact question.

I don't know but the search thing doesn't work for me, when I search for something it doesn't do anything it just stays on the same search page for hours.

Search works. Be patient. Besides there are other ram threads on the front page.

Buy value ram.

It doesn't, I testedit, I searched something and then I came back about an hour and a half later and nothing happened. Also I want the fastest RAM, and price is no problem.

Buying ram with fast timings isn't getting the fastest ram, it's throwing money out the window. You're looking to overclock. If you really have money burning a hole in your pocket, buy the PC 3200. The 'fast timing' stuff is snakeoil.

All ram is the same essentially, some overclocks better -- like the 3500 stuff, will probably better for overclocking, but if you dont overclock, ALL RAM WILL BE THE SAME.

Search does seem a tad sluggish today, but I promise that it does work. If you're having issues, you can try posting in the "Forum Issues" forum.

Define "fastest". If you won't be overclocking past 400FSB, there is a pretty wide variety of CL2-2-2-5 RAM available, which is the tighest timings you can get (not that it's ALL that much faster than regular old CL2.5 RAM, especially on an AMD64). Past there, things get trickier, and AMD64 results are few and far between (AT's latest memory articles keep saying there will be an AMD64 memory article "soon", once they settle on a testbed). Did you read the last few AT memory reviews? AT got some nice results from the OCZ 3700"EB" RAM (good luck finding it, though), and I would imagine any of the high-performance RAM they recommend would work well in an A64. 3700EB on A64 benches

Ok maybe not fastest but best. I have no idea what to look for in RAM other than CAS Timings and I am assuming lower timings are better. If not then somoene tell me what to look for in RAM. The search doesn't work for me but I'll try again. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between 2-2-2 and like 2-2-2-5-1T or something? I have no clue what to do =(
