RAM?

I am upgrading my SDRAM from 64 to 128, ya i have a little, but what all does it improve. I know it improves loading time and other things, but what exactly does it improve and by an estimate of how much?

It improves a lot, especially if you multitask. I just went from 128MB to 384MB and I can really tell the diff when I do web development (Flash, Dreamweaver, Explorer and Freehand at the same time). You know all that disk thrashing that goes on when you have a couple of apps open and you want to switch, that disappears. Also, if you work with an image editor, there will be a huge difference with big images, and even smaller ones.

One last suggestion, at the price of RAM these days, you should definetly pop for a 128 MB stick instead of 64.

yea, dont just get 64.. get a 128 or 256 chip!!! you will most definatley notice the difference...

well, i havent checked into prices yet, and prices DO matter. how much is 64 SDRAM and 128 SDRAM and 256 SDRAM. Just leave an estimate, cause price depends on how much i get...

Adding ram will greatly help in many situations including (IMO) extending the life of your harddrive. As mentioned by icecool83 your hard disk will work a lot less. I have 320 megs and I can play Team Fortress Classic online and my hard drive will actually go into sleep mode.

How Fast you get into CS depends on your connection too.
I had k6-2 450Mhz with 128MB RAM, and i still can be the first or second to enter a new map cycle because my school connection is super fast

my p3 500 128 used to be fast at loading cs a few months ago and id be first to enter... but now it takes forever compared to my 1.2ghz w/ 512mb ram

Look at the difference!!! LOL anyway, johnee, i have a P3 540 and want to get about 256 megs of RAM (Considering it doesnt go above 150 bucks )
