Rambus does NOT = Intel

Just thought I would point that out.. some people are still confused.. last time I checked Rambus was a separate company.. Intel has some stock options in Rambus, but they do not own them. I just hate these Rambus threads that never mention the name of the company that makes them, RAMBUS.. not Intel..

Again, there seem to be entire threads talking about Rambus that use the word "Intel" more than "Rambus"..

Actually, AMD has a Rambus license.

Not that they are actively promoting it, but they are not discounting it...yet.

And fairly so, people are saying ?Intel and Rambus?, Intel has a vested Interest in Rambus making it big in today?s market (look at the Intel Rambus contract and you?ll understand why), and that?s where you make the Intel = Rambus connection. One example it the fact Willamette will only support Rambus/RIMMs (Intel pushing Rambus) initially as speculated. I thought we all knew this? But I have not seen anyone say Intel owns Rambus, they would be misinformed to do so.

We all know Rambus needs all the help they can get, if they were to flop, this insures Intel has something to fall back on, something much more customary to the consumer and above average Joe.

Its all because Intel made a stupid contract with Rambus. The contract is like this, Intel is to promote RDRAM till the end of some year and by the end of this year Intel has to have made RDRAM 20% of the market. As you can see, no one wants those 20% so Intel is need deep shit as you might put it. I´m not realy sure what happens if Intel cant make it but I´m sure Rambus will just sue their ass like they usually do with everything they might possibly get some money out of.

so, we can still blame intel for all the rambus nonsense. and since the willy is rambus optimized, well, we can really blame intel.

frankly i don't really care if RDR is slower and more expensive than PC133. what really ticks me off is the blatant violation of jedec conventions. AND suing everyone with a licensing fee for SD and DDR.

Haha Czar - Rambus probably would sue Intel, but I think Intel has a lot more $$ than rambus and could crush them in endless litigation if it came down to it.

As much as I hate to say this, Intel probably has more lawyers on the payroll than Rambus has employees (including the janitors!). Probably several times more in fact. Yes, Intel could litigate Rambus into the dirt if they wanted.

Personally, I just wish Intel would get off their ass and develope really good, reliable chipsets. The BX kicked ass in just about every way you wanted to measure it. Nothing since has been as good. Unfurtunatly, there has been a lot of technologies that have come about since the BX was designed. Heck, Intel created most of them...
