Recent pho convert here but I would eat an entire truckload of both at the same time.

Pho done properly is amazing. That said, man I miss the food we had in Japan. Was there last year for the second time and I'm ready to go back again.

There's a place in my town that has spicy pho that will absolutely blast through any cold you have. Works every time. So that, I guess.

Variety at various times. Nobody can eat pizza 7 days a week.

I love a good Pho. There are no shortage of good Pho places in Orange County CA. I have not really had an authentic ramen dish from a good Japanese restaurant. However I prefer the pho noodles over ramen noodles.

I am a Pho. The noodles to me are better and I find the herbs more balanced.

Beef > pork
Therefore
Pho > ramen

Went to Ichiran in japan last month, doubled down on the noodles and pork. I was struggling to finish it at the end.

But you give me a big ass bowl of pho with all cow parts, I can down it no problem.

Ramen, but I do need to try pho again. I've only tried it once and didn't like it. I was later told that the particular restaurant I went to sucks though.

Real ramen: pork broth with a fatty pork slice, green onions, mushrooms, a little radish. Yum.

I've made udon before and enjoyed making it. Am I an apostate for not really tasting the difference between ramen and pho?

I'm in NC, not Asian, so I don't really know if I've great pho or not. I've enjoyed it at a place called 'Bowl of Pho' but I don't really know if that place is best or okay place to judge. Anyone know of a really good place in the NC, or Virginia area (excluding DC - I am so over that town) so that I can taste firsthand?

Speaking of interesting restaurant names. . . this place opened up next to me, so I have to go based on the name alone.

I should have said "city next to me" to be more clear.

Don't mind me, I am just being a typical ATOTer :awe:

And of course the Chinese name has nothing to do with the English name for that restaurant.

Pho is pro, ramen is nah, man.

I enjoy both but given the choice, pho 9 times out of 10.

Not sure if it's typical everywhere else but Pho is cheaper even for a portion size twice as large of the Ramen serving. Ramen's more of a "hipster" thing driving up the price while Pho actually retains it's price conscious/blue collar roots.

this is only half true:

Pork > Beef
Pho > Ramen.

Math is weird, man.
