Rampage, the new looooser...

Hi!

I am very new here, in fact this is my first post, i checked around a bit and i saw Dave stating that he was unbiased, well, that made me laugh so hard that i had to post something in response.

Even though i am an engineer at nVidia, i am completely unbiased.

I believe that the greatest thing that ever happened to mankind was the GeForce.

3Dfx new video cards are going to be very expensive, and as they are going in the wrong direction i believe that they are going to be both expensive and inferior.

Dave really does not know ANYTHING about the NV20, i have worked with this chip and i can tell you that his opinions are about as much worth as a 3Dfx guys. That is what he is.

Sure he has some specs, i have some specs concerning Rampage and 3Dfx future chips and i can tell you, they will NOT be very hard for nVidia to crush (meaning that nVidia will actually beat the living daylight out of every chip that 3Dfx will produce for the next 5 years.)

Dave, as you are only here to make yourself heard, telling everyone how bad nVidia chips will be and how GREAT 3Dfx chips will be, i cannot help wondering, where do you get your info from??

Either you are just trying to promote 3Dfx (which would men lying) or you are just not very informed.

umm. I'm trying to figure out if you're being sarcastic or not.. I thought you were just trying to make a point that DaveB3D is biased.. now I'm not so sure..

oh and spill the beans on the Rampage then.. we all want to know how it is..

after all, we can try to predict the speed of the NV20 from what we've heard, and the speed of the rampage from what we've heard (which is quantity wise less then the NV20).

then we can compare them to what really comes out, and find out if you're a lier, or if you are just being sarcastic..

Most of nVidia's engineers are situated in Silly Valley, AZ, and RTP.

Yes, my grammatic skills are not up to par, which would require a severe lesson from someone who didn't understand what i wrote. (i almost wrote three points, but that would be incorrect, and maybe someone wouldn't be able to understand)

The thing is, Dave knows NOTHING about the NV20, he is just trying to convince everyone that the new 3Dfx chip is great.

I really understand this, the guy is an engineer working with that chip, of course he think it is great.

Now, it just so happens that i work for nVidia, and i think that Dave is wrong, not just a little wrong but a lot, it sound much like he doesnt' know much about deferred rendering at all.

To challenge the NV25 (wich is the chip that will be challanged by deffered rendering) you would have to build a core with 5X the complexity of the GP1, Dave knows that this is impossible, so he just keeps on ranting.

And his post about needing 64MB embedded memory to compete with the 3Dfx tile based card... Well, it makes me laugh.

3Dfx is the company going the wrong way, not nVidia, of course, i do not say this because i work for nVidia, i am completely unbiased, just as Dave is.

Fine then. Prove your point with facts. Is DaveB3D biased? Yup. Does he attempt to prove his bias? Yes...and that's the difference. He does a good job of it I might add. It's not enough to say "our chip will laugh in the face of the 3dfx chip...they're headed in the wrong direction". Tell us why you think this...otherwise your engineer credentials are meaningless.

Yes i will shut up, so you can all listen to the almighty Dave, no one ever tells him to shut up, who do you think he is??
He is just some other techie working for 3Dfx, and i am just a techie working for nVidia. So i am trolling, but when he tells us that nVidias future cards are bullsh!t and future 3Dfx cards are good as gold he is telling the truth... Come on for god's sake, i would love to have a technical discussion with Dave, but all of you who think that i am a troll just because i do not agree with Dave.. well, just think before you post.. or maybe you are more advanced than i am, maybe you would like to discuss the the issues about deferred rendering and memory enhancement.

This is the issue i tried to point out, everyone thinks that Dave is always right and truthful, if he was, then nVidia would just pack up their stuff and leave, no one can compete with what Dave says that 3Dfx is going to do.

And for the rest of you so eager to flame, just think about it, what makes you think you know anything about anything, so you have owned a few video cards have you, and you didn't like the nVidia cards.... Get over it.

Let's get technical, the thing i have against Rampage is that it is OLD technology, Dave doesn't like where nVidia is heading just because they do not use OLD technology, Dave, seriously, do you really believe that the Rampage stands a chance, well, he probably does, but time will tell.

All of this nVidia bullcrap is starting to irritate me, you listen to one side, but ignore the other.

I didn't say it taped out this week. I asked you for the date, or at least the day of the week it taped out on. Even if it taped out last month, it still had to tape out on something monday-sunday. Again, I know the exact date. Do you?

Rampage is old technolgy? That is your claim.. where is the &quot;technical&quot; discussion in this? The REALLY funny thing is that NVIDIA is the one sticking with old technology be planning to continue with traditional architectures.. or should I say &quot;advanced traditionals&quot;?
