Did you know that we could take the entire world population and fit them inside of the state of Texas with a population density that is less than New York City's?

NYC = Roughly 8.1 Million people and roughly 321 land square miles.

Texas is roughly 262,000 Land square miles.

262,000/321 = 816.

816 x 8,100,000 = 6,609,600,000.

PWND.

Edit: I did this math myself. If you want to google the stats and do the math as well, you can.

Okay I should clarify. It's not that I didn't believe it, it's that it was too crazy to be true.

But where do you draw the boundaries when it comes to land and population?

The infrastructure for such a city would be very difficult. Getting resources like food and energy would still require people living in many parts of the world.

hehe. It's not so much that it's a good idea for it to be in Texas, it's just that Texas represents the best example because it's square land miles are perfect, and people have a good idea of the size of Texas.

Really, I don't think people do have an idea how big TX is. Imagine driving 8+hrs, and still not being out of state yet.

If you think texas is big...try Western Australia for size

Western Australia is Australia's largest state in area, covering the western third of the mainland, and is bordered by South Australia and the Northern Territory. It is, after the Sakha Republic in Russia, the second largest subnational entity (Statoid) in the world. The capital city, Perth, is one of the most isolated cities of its size on the planet, being closer to Jakarta (3,007 km) than to Sydney (3,284 km).

Population
(End of March 2005)
- Population 2,003,800 (4th)
- Density 0.79/km² (7th)
Area
- Total 2,645,615 km² (1st)
- Land 2,529,875 km²
- Water 115,740 km² (4.37%)
