A while back I made a thread about CPU temps
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...hreadid=1592084&enterthread=y&arctab=y
Went through and changed my heatsink installation and now I am 100% sure it is 100% correctly installed, and since then after some video problems I reverted back to the stock gpu cooler from ATI.
As it is though I am still getting random lock ups. My sound will stop and go into a high pitched noise then cuts out, and then loops whatever was playing ie, a few seconds of a song will loop until I hit the restart button.
I cannot do alt/ctrl/del, I get no responce from the system at all.
This freezing problem happened to me about 4x in a row in under an hour while playing BF2 just now, tried disconnecting my secondary HDD and my dvd burner but that didn't matter (and really shouldn't they weren't active at the time). Tried reducing the graphics settings to lower than normal, yet I still get the error.
Also happened when I was simply watching a movie while at the same time using bittorrent to download a file...
I am wondering if it could be a harddrive problem? I save everything to my raptor before moving it to my storage drive if I decide to keep it, and all my program files are on my raptor. Would it be benificial to try to install xp on a secondard drive partition, disconnect my raptor and see if I still have problems? or is that just doing alot for nothing?
Or could I simply be running an insufficent powersupply? I thought 430W would be plenty for what I am running though, or is my CPU overheating as noted in the other thread I posted? The temps have not changed since then.
