Hello, I was hoping someone could help me out with a problem I am having. I just got my new processor (amd thunderbird 750) and i am able to clock it all the way to 1100 at max voltage. Windows loads fine, and everything seems peachy. When i try and play quake 3, video locks up completely and the sound repeats itsself every second, requiring a reset. I ran 3dmark2000 default looped 5 times and it works fine. I have an epox 8kta2 mobo, tbird 750 at 1100, windows Me, ibm 30g 75gxp, 50x cd-rom, 128 mb pc133, taisol cgk74209 with 27 cfm fan and arctic silver, sb live value, creative labs geforce 256 ddr.
Windows Me is updated, i'm using the via 4.25a drivers, live ware 3, nvidia detonator 6.31's too. Does anyone have an idea of what oculd be going on??? It would be much appreciated.

Sounds to me like your video card gets a little too hot. I have no experience with your card, so I don't know if heat is a common problem, but still.

3DMark2000 might run fine because it takes breaks all the time while loading the next test etc., while other games may be more graphics intensive over longer periods of time, which again might lead to too much heat.

fitzhue, try running at default speed for processor(750mhz) & see if it still happens, if not then you will have to reduce your overclocking speed or have better cooling.

Do geforce 256's really get that hot? To actually need a fan on it to run smoothly? Seems wierd

Geforce's get hot as the devil. I found the best thing is a fan called a "system exhaust blower". You can put it in the PCI slot just below the AGP slot, it will be just 2-3mm away from the geforce and it will suck the heat off the geforce out of the case.

BTW - Nipni is correct. I use Q3 to determine the limits of overclocking. When it wont run for at least 15 min without lockup, I know I've reached the limit.
