I built my gf a computer a while back, she kept having problems with it would randomly reboot with no warning. I finally narrowed it down that the power supply was probably the culprit so upgraded the power supply from the cheap one that came with the case. After I did this I ran/used the computer for two days without any problems. As soon as my girlfriend took it home it started shutting down again, but this time it would give a XP error first. She has an old apartment that has old school style outlets so she has to use an adapter to plug in her pc... I'm wondering if this could cause any problems. I was hoping you all could give me some advice as far as what is causing this problem. Is it a software issue now that she's getting XP errors? Or could bad memory be causing these problems?
here are the specs for her setup
3.0 GHz Pentium 4 CPU
1 gig Corsair Ram
120 GB Seagate HD
12X Sony DVDRW
52X Generic CDRW
GeForce Video Card
Antec 400W PS
(Temp wise everything seems to be running fine)
